I'm too self-conscious to make it about me. Even now I feel like an asshole saying this but every little put in your place, ego deflating, down a peg message isn't just read by people with enough self-importance to feed a country. There are also those of us who read it and think:
"okay, but when is it about me?"
Seriously, when can it be about me? When am I allowed to feel significant?

Well, it actually is.
Because the only way you can accommodate others is by relating to the aspects of them that are similar in you, you are effectively living for yourself. You're doing both, but you can't relate to somebody unless you can "sympathize" with them.
