Description
This comic is a bit of a lie as it implies I'm actually embarrassed by my unironic love of Rick Astley.Truth be told, I associate this song (and his other hit, Together Forever) with some very pleasant childhood memories. My folks used to own a seafood resturaunt around the time this song came out. I spent my summers there eating fried shrimp, playing arcade games, messing with live crabs, and listening to the radio...MIX 106.5 to be exact , which played this song AT LEAST once every hour. And on the weekends, my folks would let me put on cartoons on the resturaunt's TV. We used to open RIGHT when Muppet Babies came on, too.
Man, I loved be a kid in the '80s.

When first learning about Rickroll I really hated this song. Yet now I've herd it so many times that I can't stop listening to it on my own free will. WHAT'S HAPPENING TO ME!?

When I was a child there was nothing else to watch than a series called Little two (pikku kakkonen) which actually is still running... As it was years before my birth. The reason how is a complete mystery to me 'cause the show sucks...

Man, you are so lucky. If I could choose any time period to go back to, it would be the 80's. I came up just a bit short, however, and turned out to be a 90's kid instead (and I still have the Furbies to prove it).
I love Rick Astley too. >.>' Never understood the whole Rick Roll'd thing either, but whatever people are into nowadays, I guess.

Yeah, the 80s was a wonderful time to be a kid. We had awesome cartoons, no internet (and thus plenty of reasons to go outside and play), awesome music, and classic video games.

Sounds like some Awesome Nostalgia in Song format. As always your expressions and line work are top Notch. Is it all Digital or do you draw and ink the strip first?

Aw, thank you. I draw 'em in blue line and then ink 'em traditionally with a brush pen and tech pens for fine details.
Glad you like the line work. I look at it and think it's a total mess, but I often get told I'm a little too hard on myself. X_x

That's cool, so often in this age of digital media traditional methods get lost. And no worries about being hard on your self, it is often said that we are our own worst critics. You have a following of people who read your comics so that has to count for something.

haha I was a kid in the 80s too and the radio played that song all the time, so it's a kinda nice memory for me too.
I'm from Argentina, so imagine it, that song was a world success
I still hear that song in the radio often, it's like a classic hehe
Great comic!

The first time I heard this song was actually only a couple years ago, on the car radio. I could have sworn I had heard it somewhere else, but (and it's sorely obvious by now if you look in the right places) Robo's theme from Chrono Trigger is pretty similar to "Never Gonna Give You Up," and knowing how half the tunes in my head are video game tunes to begin with... well, you can imagine my confusion.
Thankfully, I got to liking the song long before Rickroll made itself known to me. I love it. I should probably check out some other Rick Astley songs, too...

people would tell their buddehs stuff like "hey, check out this cool Halo Video!" and send them the you-tube link to rick astley and then the buddeh would be like: "hey... this isn't halo..." and then they'd be like: hahaha I just rick-rolled you!

Hey man, I love Rick Astley, too, and I'm NOT embarrassed by it. "Never Gonna Give You Up" is one of his songs I love best along with "She Wants To Dance With Me", "Together Forever", "It Would Take a Strong, Strong Man", and "Cry For Help".
I agree with you about the memories thing, brings back so many memories when I was a kid in the 80s as well. The late 80s is when these songs came out. Your memories sound really cool and fun. I'm glad you were still able to watch your cartoons while you were at the restaurant.
Ah, I miss the 80s, and it's so nice to talk to someone who feels the same way.
