This comic was based on a conversation Sarah and I had during a long night of cutting art cards for our next convention appearance...which tends to happen during our patented pre-con all-nighters. SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK....and thumbless.

I worry about this all the time when I'm using my cutter. I've actually found out that mine works better the farther I keep my hand away. XD

Yeah, this is something that would happen to me. Badly cut myself trimming an art board with a box knife, more concerned about the fact that the artwork and hecka expensive board were ruined with my blood. XP

Something similar (but not nearly as bloody or damaging) happened to me at work a few years ago. I've been very wary of paper cutters ever since.
Make sure this doesn't come true! You need that thumb, and Sarah needs to not be hauling your butt to the emergency room.

I actually did cut the tip of mi thumb off with a cutter while preparing a work for college once. Not the whole thumb, but a bit of flesh in the point. It hurt like hell and while I was geting it cleaned and bandaged, all I could think was "Oh God I didn't check if there was blood on my work, I hope I didn't ruined it"

I've done something similar XD;
I stabbed myself with a needle REALLY GOOD one night while I was working on my cosplay. First thing I did was check the fabric to make sure I didn't get any blood on it. Band-aids? Feh.

I very nearly did that. Two people in my art class actually did. One sliced the tip of their finger off, the other ended up going to hospital. I reacted quick enough I just needed a bandage... and a tetanus shot since the blade was rusty. It happens far too often. Now I make my bf cut things for me XD

Personal experience wise, I've.... accidentally spilled water on my desk before. >w>; When my sketchbook and notes were on the table. I grabbed my sketchbook and left my notebook to suffer orz.
And sometimes I carry my sketchbook in my bag, which I leave in the car when I go grocery shopping with my mom. Every time, I'd be like "take out wallet, cellphone.... should I take my sketchbook too? eAe"
