This comic was based on a conversation Sarah and I had during a long night of cutting art cards for our next convention appearance...which tends to happen during our patented pre-con all-nighters. SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK....and thumbless.

At least when I don't get any sleep my job doesn't require me to be near sharp objects! 40hr straight last week, I *definetly* would've cut off a thumb

Haha I've been there! cut my finger with an expo knife after pulling an all nighter working on a pop up scene for class and was more concerned about bleeding on my pop up characters. lol

When there is advise about how to act in case of emergency (fire, etc) they say we should leave all personal objects like bags and such, but I always think "what about my art? I can't leave it in a burning building!"

Lol i often think my priority views are odd. Sometimes i think of things like if I get mugged (hope this never happens) and they say "gimme the bag" I know for safety you should give them what they want without a fight but a tiny part of me would be like "take my bag and my money, but can I keep my drawings??" XD

Somewhat of a coincidence, my friend just lost her thumb today.
Not with a paper cuter though.

Yeah, she didn't really loose the whole thing. Just a chunk of it, but it was cut to deep so the doctors say it will never grow back. She's kind of brandishing it as a battle trophy though, so I don't really think she minds.

my art teacher who always told us "if you cut your selves, dont bleed on the art work," did this. only the very tip, no bone, too little to stitch back on but the bit grew back like a starfish or something

Also, you can totally buy a pack of art cards roughly sized to Yugioh cards if you ever get tired of chopping them by hand. They're standard ACEO size. I'm sure it's easier to draw on giant paper though.

Oh gawd, this speaks to me. I've never cut off a finger, but I've made some pretty stupid mistakes in my three-day-no-sleep-pre-con binges. Drinking paint-water, putting a cat treat into my mouth instead of a cheeto, falling asleep on top of wet paint... T_T
