nice lighting! Those weapons do look pretty dangerous Maria's hair is interesting here, it's neat in the front but messy at the back!
She doesn't look like she's about to wield the weapons though, just hold them

haha yes Felicity I know, I know... she looks more like a chain mail bikini babe, I have to admit. This was the very first photo we took and Idk why I just went to it. We have some more dynamic ones I should have worked on including some pretty cool photos swinging a battle axe that I going to combine with a monster. I promise I'll do better

oooh swinging a battle axe! That would be fun to see! Dynamic photos with weapons strike me as pretty exciting
and it's okay, you're doing fine

Thanks RW, so glad you like it! I was reading your explanation 'How I do it' and just curious if a photo can be used as a reference or starting point, can it be imported that is, in programs like Poser and DAZ.

If I understand the question I think I am answering this correctly. Photos can be used as visual reference and I do use them when I am trying to create a character based on a real person. With that said you can't import a photo into either program. The characters are 3D meshes that you apply textures to.
The textures have to be manipulated in a program such as Photoshop to "cover" a specific 3D template shape and size. Then that is used to "skin" the 3D model inside Poser or Daz.

That's fascinating to me. I'd love to see a time lapse of that one day, and I can probably find one on the internet. Have you ever seen this image in my portfolio? It was my first experience with the possibilities open to us digitally, though a much different process I assume. The model was body painted and shot in the studio on a black background, the forrest was created in Ray Dream Designer, they were composited in Photoshop. How long have you been doing this?

Actually to do a really accurate 3D replication of someone ideally you need some specific photographs. You need high resolution images of the face shot straight on from the front and the sides (if they have long hair, the hair pulled up on top of the their head, keeping as much of the skin clear of hair as possible) and straight on shots of the body for front, sides and back. That would be perfect and provide the best results. Obviously, when I recreate someone like an actress I am stuck with using images I find online and guess at some stuff and do a lot more trial and error to try an recreate them.
Given you are a photographer, if you ever wish to collaborate and want to work together to recreate one of your models, if you take the pics I will do the 3D work. That could be a lot of fun to see how close to the real person we can get. Just a thought...
