A Plumpy Nut? An edible paste made of peanuts for severe or acute malnutrition?

Yeah. You got it - a peanut. This is just a 3:1 close up of a regular old split peanut (salted). They split into halves very naturally.
A peanut is actually a "legume" which is a bean, not a real nut. The little nub at the bottom is the germ of the peanut.

Very close (salted). However, it looks like nut, acts like a nut, feels like a nut, sounds like a nut - but it is not a nut.

Not a pretzel. Although it is sometimes used as a snack item.

No cake.
Scientifically speaking this would be called a fruit, but that covers specific tissues of the flower and the ovaries of all flowering plants.
So there is a seed of truth in what you said.

A pastry? I see sugar or salt cubes on it.

Not a pastry. But what you say has a germ of truth to it.

Not a doughnut. When I said "germ of truth" that was two clues. One is literal. The second is is that the "sugar or salt cubes" was correct.

Not wheat or any other cereal grain.
This is only half of the whole. {edit} When I say this I mean this object was split before the picture was taken. Not that the picture only shows the top half.
