If you like 'Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier' its all fine and good.

Personally, Eno and myself and quite a lot of fans aren't very thrilled with how they treated Jak and Daxter's friendship. Most of the time Jak treats Daxter like a pet or acts like a mother telling their kid to be quiet.

WHERE'S THE BROMACE, HIG?!? D:

Best rant about it all can be found here: [link]
(love that com! Make sure you read ALL the comments to see what people are talking about).

Also, if you want to comment in that com you MUST TYPE ALL IN CAPS. As that is a capslock community and it's the rules.

But yes. Bad! Bad Ottsel!

at this point the only think I would buy for you would be perishables. I'd hate to send you on your continuing journey with yet MORE shite, and said shite you've already allocated to other people buying you...and I'd probably get the wrong thing if I attempted it anyways.

that's why art is the safest option! *winks*

what do I want? if you really REALLY wanna send me something, I would LOVE just some coloured mechanical pencil lead, that way you can just send it in an envelope. that is allllll.

welll, maybe a picture....I will meditate on this.

You and Eno make such great collaborations. I like the coloring and facial expressions in this cracking up moment. Awesome work you two.

I tend to stay away from The Last Frontier. If it's a game done by High Impact Games, I would just walk away. Hate to be harsh, but their PS2 ports usually don't turn out very well.

oh no! Not jak and daxter! DDD> WHY?! thats a STELLAR set of games, why do they end up ruining them with these awful ports?

I concur with what the others are saying. I sincerely hope Naughty dog are the ones who do the next few games, Theyre a brilliant game company. I love this, though XDD you two make brilliant collabs

Did you play the PSP version or the PS2 version of the game? It has just been released here in Belgium and I want to know if the graphics on the ps2 are worth buyin, or if I should just get it on the PSP?

I really like Daxter's expression here ^^

Ah, I always love your collabs!
Anyway, this picture would be quite funny if it wasn't so true.. .
I've heard good and bad things about the game as a whole (so I might still try it...) but this shift in their relationship is saddening. Part of what made them "Jak and Daxter" and not just "Jak, with pointless animal sidekick" is that Jak is the only one who doesn't treat him like an animal, the only one who really knows him as a person. No good can come from forgetting the ALL-IMPORTANT-FACT that Daxter is human inside. (I mean, that was what started the whole series in the first place!)
But I still have high hopes for the future.

The worst part about TLF is the fact that Richard Lemarchand and Neil Dreckmann, the game's writers, WORKED FOR NAUGHTY DOG!!! And the script was by Daniel Arey, the same guy who scripted the other games! :0

I think it's official: ND doesn't give a ripe shit about J&D or its fans anymore

neoyi In reply to albino-ottsel [2009-11-20 02:54:06 +0000 UTC]

Personally, I always thought the Jak and Daxter series lost a little bit of something when the founders of NDi left. Jak 3 was hemmed by a new writer at the same time Jason Rubin left. That was when the red flag rose for me.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

KeyshaKitty In reply to albino-ottsel [2009-11-19 14:44:06 +0000 UTC]

Yet no one really knows how much of Arey's original script is used in the final game. :/

albino-ottsel In reply to KeyshaKitty [2009-11-19 14:47:04 +0000 UTC]

Still, he was the only scriptwriter I saw credited (maybe I missed someone). Either way, I'm still hesitant about blaming it all on HIG. They did a pretty good job with everything else.

But yeah, I'm just gonna pretend TLF never happened

No pants for Daxter?

I've started playing TLF and though the gameplay mechanics are nice, High Impact totally missed the boat with character relationships.

Jak and Keira don't seem like a real couple and Keira doesn't seem extremely intelligent anymore. /sigh

pants for Daxter, for me at least, isn't canon. it makes him look like Crash Bandicoot no joke.

AppleDumpling In reply to enolianslave [2009-11-19 18:53:42 +0000 UTC]

I dunno, I'm just used to seeing him with pants, so it's acceptable for me at this point.

Ah, Crash Bandicoot... If only you and the Jak and Daxter series were as successful as the Ratchet and Clank series.

neoyi In reply to AppleDumpling [2009-11-20 02:49:43 +0000 UTC]

Actually, Crash Bandicoot ONCE did well. He was a phenomenal and was much a cultural icon in the video gaming world as he was well loved and known. He was the PS1's unofficial mascot and remained the only American creation of his time to succeed in ALL three major video gaming countries (US, Europe, Japan). To this day, I don't think other American-made mascot-type characters have reached the impact Crash did. During the mid to late 90s, Crash Bandicoot dominated the gaming world.

Shame his popularity has been dwindled since then.

I feel that it is necessary for me to stuff more gaming information into my brain. @_@

I own the first four Crash games (never managed to beat one and two), but it's a shame that the title has sunken into obscurity. It feels so strange looking at Crash and Jak and then seeing Uncharted. It's just like how Insomniac now develops Resistance after making Spyro and still making Ratchet games. The transition is amazing.

Crash does well enough, considering he has terrible posture. you;re right though, man does Ratchet and Clank rule. I'm playing 'A Crack in Time' right now as it happens.

Naughty Dog sold Crash after CTR, I think. I refuse to play any other Crash games.

Size Matters on PSP was my first Ratchet game and I'm definitely looking forward to playing more of them when I find the time and money.

neoyi In reply to AppleDumpling [2009-11-20 02:50:50 +0000 UTC]

NDi didn't sell 'em, they were just under contract to make three Crash games for the company that ultimately owned Crash. The fourth (CTR) was considered a bonus. A fun one, I might add.

Great picture- love the facial expressions and poses.

I don't have anything particularly bad to say about the game, but nothing particularly good either. As a game in itself, it's okay, but as an instalment in the series it's just...sigh. I'm happy to see that Keira finally got a bit of a change in her warderobe, though, and some more development as character.

I still need to wrap up this game, so I can't judge (Damn Super Mario Bros. Wii is distracting me with its pure awesomeness). But if it's anything like the pic depicts (hilarious, by the way), I'm fidgeting a bit.

Jak and Daxter works because the two are essentially opposites: a calm, logical straight man who does all the work, and the loudmouth egotistical one who chirps in with much sass and pomp. They work against AND with each other that you can see both the tension and devotion they have for one another.

I don't know how much approval HIG got from NDi, but it'd be a shame if they didn't work out one of their key dynamics in the series. Again, I'll get back to this once I wrap up the durn game (I am tempting myself from spoiling).

Followed the link and read the journal/comments.

My brother's played the first three games, and I've played a little of Jak 2, but we got sucked into Ratchet and Clank. Insomniac has gone on to make an incredible set of new R&C games for the PS3, at least two of them revolving around the friendship between Ratchet and Clank.

So it kills me to see what has been done with Jak and Daxter, who had just as much potential as R&C. This series could have made some EPIC PS3 games that I would have happily spent money on.

Way to fail, HIG.

Oh, and awesome art, you two.
