Description I don't do it often, but I can model. I'm actually a trained game-artist, but I quickly found that the entry level jobs for most game studios want you to do modelling and alittle painting on the side, which isn't what I want. Swap that around, and we're talking.

Anyway, it's more of a technical piece, I dunno if many of you will be interested.

Polycount 22,122.
6 texture maps. 1024x1024. Spec and Diffuse only.

The reason for 6 texture maps is because I built the weapon in different parts, so I could rebuild other "similar" weapons later on, using the parts already made. If I'd done the entire weapon on a single texture sheet, adding and subtracting components would've left gaping wastage of texture space.

This is the actual asset that'll be used in the comic.

Very Very nice weapon.
I myself am looking to go into the point and click game industry myself as I have programming skills and access to a viable engine.
The problem is finding artists (as with a point and click the backgrounds/characters are paramount)

Oh hell yes! Those other two were pretty damn sexy but this, oh boy this just nails the idea of "Gunblade" right out the park! I mean if there was such a thing as a Gunblade in real life, this would be what it looks like (minus that magic material-like slot of course).

I'm not sure to be honest... I've signed onto similar projects in the past, poured hours and hours into it, and the artworks never seen the light of day, let alone payment.

I've currently got alot of paid work sustaining me at the moment, but if I end up with alot of free time, I'll contact you.

I can almost assure you that you haven't been in a project to this extent. We are working with Atari, Irem and Sierra as well Eden Games. Who said it wasn't paid???

Oh! It was just the way you worded it. I've been on projects before that've promised payment once a publisher was found, or that I'd get a cut of the profits at the end, all to no effect. So I'm just slightly wary of people offering work that seems too good to be true.

Any chance you could send me a note with the details, for further reading?

i wasn't being completely serious- but yeah...i totally want to learn 3d xD

do you have any idea if zbrush is easy to learn for someone with no 3d experience? i mean i can sculpt in real life but-- lol

If you're a sculpture, you should find it fairly easy. I recommend downloading the trail and then following a few tutorials.

Good to know im not the only artist who, when done, uses these as scrap models for their parts. As for the design itself, im a fan, except for that big nut right in the middle of it. Just seems... out of place. But other then that, I like it. Good job!

Thankew! And yeah, I plan to outfit Non-recurring characters with variations on the same weapon. I'll mix and match.

And don't worry about the bolt, it'll barely get seen when he's holding it. And I'll paint some bandaged grip around it eventually too.

I really like this ^^ You do models well =3 I've never actually tried or looked into how... but I get the feeling it's really complicated and takes alotta skill.

It's complicated, but I wouldn't say it's anything prolific. I'm sure alot of people could learn fairly easily. It's time consuming more than anything.
