Like Cypselurus, I'm not familiar with species of that area, but it's definitely one of the leaf footed bugs.
I wish Thaibugs had stayed up-to-date; the latest entry on the front page is over 3 years old.
Mislabelled insects from the previous month hadn't been corrected either (May 2011 section, both "wasp IMG 1316" & "wasp IMG 1452" are actually wasp mimic mantidfly.)

Yes, maybe the site owner has given up. It looks like he was having problems with hacking, etc. Still, though not perfect it is still pretty useful.
Regarding the insect. I'll pop back sometime to the location where I came across it in case I can find anymore..... further examples. I know the exact area of undergrowth has been cleared (I think for a small banana plantation), but the general area is the same. Last time I was there I got a puncher (lots of thorns from trees lying about) so I've tended to avoid it. Its a bit of a walk back....

I agree with the previous ID of some species of Leaf-footed Bug, but can't get too much farther than that as the insect databases I have access to are rather deficient Sorry...
Are there any databases on insects in your area that you know of?

I just use Thaibugs.com . I think that is the address. It is generally pretty good. Thanks for trying to identify it.

This is the only one I've seen, hopefully I'll come across more one day.

It looks like a product of a liquid lunch at Pixar ..

I agree! I've only ever seen this once, and the shot was a bit of a throw-away snap before moving on... so I'm quite pleased with it.

I don't know what species, but this is definitely the nymph of a leaf-footed bug. It's interesting, though. I've never seen one with the "leaves" on its front legs instead of the back. Nice photo!

Thanks. Now I've got a starting point I'll research further. Thanks again.
