This is a Art Trade Contest for all my watchers who are low on points who really REALLY want one of my adoptables

You draw the design you would like to see on your possible adoptable and give me a note with a link to your entry
The best one wins a free adoptable with his/her winning design

This is a question about the adoptable making process...not really the contest, but...
Any tips for making them quickly? I have a bunch of linearts I've drawn that I want to make into adoptables sometime, but...it takes so long to do cleanup and then, later, shading. There has to be some way of doing the cleanup faster, and doing universal shading that I don't have to change when making new adoptables from the lineart...but I don't know how.

How did you make your line art?
Drawn it digitaly with a graphics tablet or drawn with pencil?

I draw with a pencil, then ink, then scan...but it still ends up with gray lines and white halos. That tutorial should hopefully help me with the cleanup at least.
But about the shading...I think I've seen shading on adoptables that is uniform and the same no matter what the coloring is...if that makes sense...that's what I want to learn...so far, I use dodge and burn, but...it's imperfect and takes too long XD;

yes, that's kind of exactly what I was looking for...only I use Photoshop, not Sai. But if PS has something similar, it should work.
I assume the same technique would work with the highlights as well?

I also use photoshop
I keep my shadow, highlights and colour layers appart, its then very easy to edit colours only
I use white for my highlights and then I just play around with the Opacity or that Normal box with all the colour effects like Lighten or hard light

Do you have Photoshop? I unfortunatly only know how to colour with Photoshop
If you do, keep the shading and colours apart in their own layers, so if you want to change the colours just edit or delete the colour layer and you still have the shading

The masked critters are quite tempting, though I have enough points for a custom when I decide how I want it, so I'll leave the contest to those who are low on budget.
