Description I've been talking o and playing too much Monster Hunter Tri...

well this is a monster...bug...insect...thing...I made this monster for my future Felarya Story for the Felarya group contest...I called it atrantorion...it's a rare species of Tonorion that are somewhat bigger and more vicious than their sisters...but these are more rare and are loners...meaning they do not belong to a Hive...

they have glowing organson their boby making a rather fightening sight if you ever encounter on in the dark...since they live deep underground...they are also blind...using the vibrations around them to see as well as the 4 small hairs on their body...they also have a Hypodermic needle like organ at the tip of their tail that can inject venom that can kill large creatures...even Naga's and Dridders within 30 seconds...the needle can also be launched out ofit's tail and impale the atrantorion Pray...injecting it's vvenom as well...the needle will grow back within a day after it is shot out...

In general...these are far more dangerous than a Tonorion and can easily handle a small group of Tonorions alone...but since they are loners...if they are attack by a large group of Tonorions they can be over run and can be killed...they arent invisable...they posses the same anti magic abilities as their sisters do so magic is useless against them...so encounteing a atrantorion is suiside...

But the needle tip sells for a high prife...and often is weilded into blades since the needle seems to be made out a solid form of the venom the atrantorion produces and seems to always posses the poison in a minor dose when cutting...

of course...getting the needle is nearly impossible...

Already saw that one. Although menacing in the dark, I like this one better.

hmm might be better to have them related to tonorion's than that a species of tonorion's much like how ants, which are a hive insect, and wasps, which are not always a hive insect, are related.

off hand the poison in the tail seems to be too strong, it wouldn't always make for the best stories to be honest. Instant death poisons are a bit much in most story format situations, now if it took a few minutes to kill that might be a bit more reasonable. Also the ability to launch your means of poison injection is next to non existent in the wild, mostly because its actually a bad idea, usually over all it robs you of more valuable resources than you ever get from such an action. Worse in order to be able to detach and throw it means that the anchors holding it HAVE to be weak, especially at its size, this means using it as a stabbing weapon becomes impractical to impossible, and having multiple stingers also makes for other problems. In addition if it had to throw it, it would have serious problems with the poison injection systems, and each throw would waist huge amounts of the precious poison (and poison is always biologically very expensive).

i see what you are going with but you see...I have thought most of this out...

First of all...ecountering one is pretty much death...but I have been thinking of the story well and I have made it possible to use it even with the singer...

second the muscles holding the stinger it actually strong...so using it's tail to sting is the equivalent to a squarpian stinging...best way putting...try to pull your fingernails out...I mean...the only thing holding them on your hand is skin yet ot takes alot of force to get ripped out...same things with claws and horns...when it wants to lanch the stinger...the two tubes the pump the poison into the stinger detaches from the needle itself and retract into the cail (the orbs on the tail is what stores the venom...the needle itself is just a hollow needle made out of crystalyzed venom) and if it launches the needle and it makes contact...it does indeed poison them but since the venom is crystalyzed...the poison effects takes a little more time to kill...and as I stated earlier...the tube that pumps the poison closes and retracts into the body when the needle is launched...preventing any poison from being wasted...

and like I stated before as well...a fresh needle is created when the big guy is resting...most likely sleeping...because the tube slowly drips the poison which crystalyzses wiith a special chemical that the other tube produces...

I have done my research on this and I have been brainstorming about it for a while to cover anything that may seem off...and I even asked my sister and she says it works very well...

and the hive thing makes sense...but the only reason I said they are a another species because...tonorions have like...maybe 20 legs...being mostly Cetepede like...hile my big guy clearly has only 6 legs...being mostely an Insect...so they branched away from the evolutionary line...

so its kinda like saying...if Tonorions are Lions of their race...the Atrantorion's are the tigers of the species...the loners who are wanderers...

*nod nod* yes while there is always some use for the "to meet is death" monsters, but the truth is that such things are limited for story use and such "perfect killers" often stretch believability, "nearly perfect killers" are usually a better way to go unless the whole focus is about surviving something so horrible that almost every one else in the story dies.

I see, you have thought about the stinger for a while, this is good. Sadly it still doesn't work, this is not to say you can't use it in your story, I am just going off of how known biology works. I do have to admit though that some of the idea are quite clever though. The first problem is that normally such crystallized poison would be way to brittle to be used as a weapon, but lets move past that as it is semi possible, and shaping a growing crystal to have an injection tube is also a non issue. Having had some experience with broken finger tips and the like I do understand your reference to fingernails and what your trying to do, but there still are a large number of problems with what your trying to do. A lot of the problem is that the stinger would rot, with out an active biological exchange the stinger could not hold up and would fall apart rapidly, worse if this thing actually lived in a damp jungle, that it is often filled with a liquid biological substance much of the time would actually work against it too. You see you actually DO need those fibrous like attachments that exist on such things as your fingernails and internal organs, and the larger something is the more you need them. This is why you do not find the wheel in biology no mater how much it would be useful to life, the same principles that stop such a thing apply here.

That said its still your creature and I am just offering an honest critique and not trying to be a nuisance.

I know how to use it...so dont worry...

as for the stinger...it does work...seeing how...if it breaks...oh...mayby he wont be loke "oh...well I can simply replace it" and I never stated how hard the needle was...and it's a subteranean creature...lives underground...and also there isnt anything you can compare to the biology of this creature making half of the things you saying no aplicable due to the fact there is no such creaure in the living biology of earth that shoots needles meaning the biology I have developed cannot bequestion...and I have had many of my frienss look at my biology and they say it makes sense...but thinks for your impute...

and trust me...it works...i've done much more in depth study on this...it works and it would be possible for such biology to work...so yeah XD
