Description
With Excelsior in hot pursuit the Enterprise goes to warp for the final time to rescue a comrade from which she will not return.I only watched Star Trek 3: The Search for Spock all the way through recently as I bought the original motion picture collection for the bargain price of £20. Once I saw this scene I had to a render of it, what really took me by surprise on the original scene was how well it was done. The Starship movement was smooth and fluid especially when the Excelsior swung underneath Spacedock in pursuit of the Enterprise.

In Star Trek Online, they added a C-Store variant of the Excelsior that's equipped with the Transwarp Drive Computer, which cuts down the cool down timer for the transwarp drive. On occasion it will go "Five... four... three... two... one... *car chugging noise*" and you don't go anywhere and the cool down timer starts. Naturally it doesn't happen often. But when it does, it's probably very amusing or frustrating.

beautiful rendering of an unforgettable scene.
Indeed, the original movie series always had good care in showing the federation ships as huge and heavy cruisers, and the robotic cameras always flew through them carefully as to exploit the size of the models. "beauty shots" as they call it on ILM.

The ILM models are wonderful if I could have professionally done model on par with ILM I would in heartbeat. The just look around it. Even the CGI though is very well done when ILM does it. Then again it's ILM they got Millions of dollars to what they want.
Glad you like the image!

Yeah I tried not to make the Starbase look too big as it would ruin the whole thing. Thanks man!
