Step 1: Sketch out what you want to draw. As you can see I decided to go with le random person.
Step 2: Line each part of the object with the binary tool according to the main color it is, doing each one on a different layer. I always make the lines darker than what I'll use to flat color it. If you want you can make all the lines black, it's whatever you prefer.
Step 3: Flat color that sucka. Go below the pixel lines and you can color using anything. Bucket, binary tool, or even pen or brush. Being this isn't the pixeled fully part.
Step 4: Time to shade. What I did was select each piece after merging the lines and the flat color layers together, not all of them just for each fitting item, and begin to shade. Put a layer above the selected item, grab your binary tool, and begin to color in sections of the item that would be darker. Once you finish simply lower the layers opacity until you think it's light enough. You can stop there or simply continue to shape the item until it reaches the original color of the item. Here is another tutorial that helps you understand what I mean: [link] . You do the same thing but instead of pen, binary, and instead of blurring you lower the opacity. If drawing a light source helps you then by all means do so to help you out.
Step 5: Here is just where I added in details such as eyes, eyebrows, mouth, and nose. You can add these into any step I just decided to do it last minute.
