painting that i finished couple weeks ago. used several images and couple photos of myself for reference. this painting depicts a scene from the Iliad when Achilles is about to kill Hector.photoshop, 30 hours.
i used achilles armour design from [link] for reference. they were pleased with the painting and i got they're approval.
edit : reduced the red balance

This is amazing! You capture the scene perfectly! And I completely adore the fact that you've remembered Athena, many people don't even though the gods are a central part of the book. And the way you've illustrated her and her movements really makes you understand that she's a goddess and it really shows how she gives Achillevs strenght!

Terrific piece. One of the best parts of the Iliad in my opinion. I think you've captured it very well. Also I like the inclusion of Athene, seeing as she masterminded it all.

Wow. I love the expressions. Achilles is just one giant rageball by this point, still insane with grief. Hector knows he's going to die in a few seconds, and reacts as such. Athena just looks bored, holding off the Trojan forces and watching at the same time.

nah, I don't think Athena thinks that. She(and Hera) absolutely despise the Trojans and would rejoice at their complete destruction...yeah they can be very sadistic at times. I don't know what Athena's thinking here but if anything I expect her to go "YESS!!!!" when she finally sees Hector killed

That's surely a point, Athena and Hera (especially the latter) seemed to still be grudging that stupid beaty contest and sure wanted to kick all the Trojans asses because of that. On the other hand Athena hated when war got out of hand, she wanted strategy, disciplin, working logistics and order. The rage and bloodlust was Ares' department. (although sure both parts are needed in war, that's why these two gods complement each other and need each other, even if both of them rather have their nails removed slowly than admitting such a thing) And I guess she sort of was fearing Achilles was loosing it here. I was taking her expression in mind too.

I was? Well, I've been looking at tonnes and tonnes of Greek Mythology art for my novella project, so I guess I've aquired sort of a "trained eye" when it comes to those things. Dunno how much pottery pics I've been looking at for instance, and there Athena was usually hanging around heroes like Jason, Achilles, Perseus and Heracles, and in similar outfits.

Hector's Left Elbow region seems a little misplaced, but its VERY minor seems a bit low and wide. But other than that I love this and everything is very detailed, very good job on this.

thx i didn't notice that but i think its the left biceps more then the elbow thats a bit awkward. its a little short. i'll probably fix it in the future. thanks again.
