This piece was sold as part of a BLM fundraiser on Instagram called Artist Block Party @rvaartistblockparty and will continue until June 20th. Funds are going to the bail bonds of protesters and local business in VA!

Floridians will know this plant as a Vinca. It's small perennial flower that blooms year round and is thought to have been a common flower planted by enslaved Americans on the graves of their loved ones. The hardiness of Periwinkles (they are invasive in some states but can be safely planted in Florida) is part of the reason they are persisting on these sites for hundreds of years. Shells and personal objects were also placed on or in the graves to honor those who have passed.
