Description
Photoshop CS5.Concept is good, the execution is... well, let's just say, it needs more work... I know. Sometimes I need to distance myself from my work to be able to realize how to fix it. Like now. Will update it soon.
(OK - I updated it but I am not much happier than I was. Arrrgh. Typical case when creating something "realistic" - i.e. the way it would actually look like in reality - gives you a non-plausible effect. In this case it is because of the compositon: the way I arranged the different elements.)
jester on rope
sitting jester
car
water splash brushes
All the other elements are either mine or purchased/licenced (or painted). Some elements are the works of Lorie Davison .

Great concept!! And great execution as well!!! I did not see it before you updated it so I cant say if it is better before or after.
What I can say is.... don't be so hard on yourself lol. I am looking at this as new art that I have not seen before. Also it is something original and I like that.
You are looking at it with your critical creators eyes lol... Meaning whatever area you feel or felt you had trouble with, sticks out like a sore thumb to you. But not to me, because I don't know which parts of the piece gave you trouble.

Oh - you are so right about the sore thumb, I have to admit The more I look at it the worse it seems to me... But again, it is so important to look at finished pieces with "innocent" (fresh) eyes - so I thank you so much for taking time and writing about your impression; I learn from this kind of comments a lot.
(I was - am - not happy about the clothes reflection in the water; wrote about the reasons somewhere in the comment flow answering to a remark.)

I think the execution is wonderful! I love the colors and textures. I especially like the splash of the water and the editing on the jesters!

Oh, thank you! And special thanks for the details!
So here is the thing.
I am still not happy with the clothesline's reflection on the water surface as the basic structural lines are somewhat make the whole impression "fake" - this is because the 2 asparagus pieces were not placed parallel with the bottom edge of the picture plane but rather in a slight diagonal (with a bit of perspective of course). But you can't see that as the car is in front of the "back" asparagus, and the diagonal is very subtle, consequently there is no visual "explanation" why the reflection is so "crooked" and it is very bothering for the viewer.
Anyway, it is much better now than it was in the first variation.

Cool! I'd have to check it out . I know, perspective, depth, and angle are difficult to maintain sometimes in order to make an edit appear realistic.
