Chapter 7: Mansion Raid

Later in the day, the group appeared from a nether portal in the middle of the woodlands.
"Alright." Envy said as she was looking at a map. "If I'm reading this correctly, the mansion should beeeee…." she paused as she looked around. When she looked to the left, she then pointed and said, "......that way." As they walked in that direction, they could hear yelling echoing in the distance that got louder as they walked further left. Eventually, the group entered a clearing, and in the distance was the Illager Imperial Mansion.
“There it is.” Bonnie said. Sombra then looked at the bottom and saw people walking around.
“Hmm, I wonder what’s going on down there.” she said. Envy then pulled out her spyglass and looked down at the crowd. There were illager guards taking some captured villagers into the mansion. The villagers were handcuffed onto a long chain, forcing them to walk in a single file line. Some of the guards poked the villagers with their axes and crossbows, telling them to get moving. As they walked in, a series of doors shut behind them. "Prisoners." Envy said.
"They might be from Arkala." Bonnie said.
"Or from somewhere else." Sombra said. Envy panned the spyglass around and saw guards everywhere. Some of them were also wearing very strange armor.
“Jeez, this place has high security!” Envy said. “There are guards literally everywhere.”
“So, how are we supposed to break in?” Bonnie asked.
“Good question. Let me look around.” Sombra said as she teleported away. A few moments later, Sombra returned. She then said, “Ok. So, the place is massive. It’s gonna be difficult to navigate if we want to get to the throne room. I also found a room full of jail cells. All of them contain the survivors of the villages that the illagers have destroyed throughout the war, including ours. Before we face Lord Drax, we’ll have to kill every single guard or soldier in there, and free the villagers of course. We’ll have to come back at midnight.” she explained.
“Alright, it’s settled then.” Bonnie said. “I say we camp here.”
“Hold on, guys.” Envy said. “We still need to figure out how exactly we’re going to break in.” There was a short pause. Just then, Envy thought of something. “I have an idea!” she cried. “Bonnie, how good are you at sniping?”
“Really good.” Bonnie answered. “I’m considered a pro.”
“I want you to take out all the soldiers on the high ground.” Envy said. “The watch towers, the roof, all of them.”
“Copy that.” Bonnie replied.
“Sombra, I want you to distract the soldiers on the ground.” Envy said. “Kill them if you have to.”
“I will do it like a true ninja, bestie!” Sombra replied.
“And Siss.” Envy said. “Can you try to blow up again?”
“Yeah, but only when I’m really angry or distressed. Sometimes, I do it through extreme fear.” Siss answered.
“Can you try to do it, manually?” Envy asked.
“I think I can, but it’s kinda hard.” Siss answered.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be with you to supervise.” Envy said. “And Terrance, we’ll need a bodyguard, so can you please stick with me and Siss?” Terrance, who looked more like a netherite golem nodded in approval. “Perfect!” Envy said. Later at around midnight, the group was ready. “Alright, let’s move out!” Envy barked. Bonnie hid in a good hiding spot and used her netherite crossbow to shoot down all the soldiers that were in the towers. Sombra teleported all over the place, using a soul harvester from the Nether to blow up all of the illagers that were on the ground. As this happened, an evoker dropped a corrupted beacon. Sombra noticed it and picked it up. After all the illagers on the field were cleared out, Envy, Siss and Terrance came in to try and detonate the entrance. On the outer layer, it was a solid piston powered door made of an unknown material. In fact, all the cobblestone on the mansion was replaced with this material. It was so strong that not even a pickaxe could penetrate it, as shown by Envy trying to mine it with the god-like pickaxe. “God damn!” Envy said. “What is this even made of!?” Terrance tried to smash through it with his bare hands, but not a scratch was left. Terrance turned around and shrugged.
“So I guess I have to try and blow it up. Right, Envy?” Siss asked. Envy sighed.
“Yes, Siss.” she said. Siss then walked over to the door. Terrance stepped aside. “Ok let’s see……” Envy said as she brainstormed some insults. “Ummm, you’re weak! You don’t even know how to punch!” she yelled.
“That’s not true, Envy. I know I’m strong.” Siss said.
“Ok, ummmm……” Envy said as she brainstormed again. “You look terrifying! Why are you even alive?” she yelled. Siss shrugged in response.
“God dammit!” Envy said. Bonnie and Sombra walked over.
“How’s it going?” Bonnie asked.
“This is harder than I thought.” Envy said. “Siss, go away!” Siss just stood there in awkward silence.
“We’re all gonna die.” Bonnie said in disappointment.
“Hold on, guys. I think I have an idea. Y’all might wanna stand far back from this.” Sombra said. She teleported away and teleported back, holding a box with something inside. As Sombra turned the box upside down, a bunch of cats fell on Siss. Siss began to grow paranoid and shiver in fear. Sombra then let out an eerie roar that caused the cats to jump out of their fur and scatter around Siss. Siss screamed in true agony as the cats swarmed her. There was then a huge explosion. As the smoke cleared, Envy could see that not just the entrance, but a good chunk of the mansion was destroyed. Parts of it were even on fire. Siss was standing in a crater, still in a tense pose. The cats that swarmed her were gone too.
"Siss, you did it!" Envy cried.
"I did?" Siss asked. "Woo hoooo!"
"Not bad, girl!" Bonnie said.
“Come on. Let’s go in.” Sombra said. The group entered the mansion. As they stepped in, a nearby vindicator saw them. Bonnie shot an arrow into his neck before he could alert the other guards.
“Remember, guys. There’s soldiers all over this mansion. If you see one, kill them.” Envy said. “Keep an eye out for the villagers.” Just then, the sounds of shouting echoed from the halls. As the group went to investigate, they saw two pillagers shouting at a line of allays that were carrying materials.
“What the hell?” Bonnie said.
“What are those things, Envy?” Siss asked.
“Allays.” Envy answered. “They are said to be peaceful creatures that gather all sorts of items. They can be very loyal companions, as long as they’re happy. Looks like the illagers have been enslaving them for that purpose.”
“It makes me wanna cry just seeing them treated this way…” Siss said.
“Yeah, I feel bad for them, Envy.” Sombra said. Suddenly, the two pillagers spotted them.
“Freeze!” one of the pillagers yelled as they pointed their crossbow. Bonnie then pulled out her netherite twin bow and shot both of the pillagers in the head.
“Well that was close.” Bonnie said. The allays then dropped their items and fluttered around Bonnie, hugging her.
“Awww, I think they like you.” Sombra said.
“You think?” Bonnie asked. “Ok, that’s enough. Can you please get off me?” she said as she tried to get the allays off of herself.
“Hey!” a voice yelled. Three more pillagers showed up. Sombra then used her netherite lightning rod to electrocute them. The pillagers fell to the ground as the electricity fried them.
“Nice one, Sombra.” Envy said.
“Thanks.”
“Hey, what’s that on guard’s belt?” Bonnie asked. There was something blue and shiny on one of the pillagers’ belts. Sombra teleported over to the body and took the shiny object off of the belt.
“It’s a key.” she said as she showed them the key.
“A key? I wonder what it goes to.” Bonnie wondered.
“I don’t know.” Sombra said. “Looks like it’s made out of lapis.”
“Sombra, keep that key just in case.” Envy said. One of the allays then snatched the key from Sombra and flew down the hall.
“Hey!” Sombra said. The group chased after the allay all the way into a room full of prison cells. In those prison cells were other allays.
“More allays?" Siss said. The allay that stole the key then handed it over to Envy. He then pointed at the cell doors. Envy then saw a console with a blue keyhole on it. She then looked at the key, and realized something.
“Wait a minute…” Envy said. As she approached the console, she inserted the lapis key into the keyhole, activating it. On the console was a series of buttons corresponding to each cell. On the bottom right were two other buttons that were labeled open, and close. Envy pressed all of the cell buttons and then pressed open. All the cell doors then bursted open, letting all the allays fly out. The allays flew all over the place and into the hall. Some illagers started screaming as well.
“Envy, we should get out of here before anyone sees us.” Sombra said.
“I agree.” Envy said as she took the lapis key. The group hurried upstairs. As they made it to the second story, there was fire everywhere. Luckily, they were able to make a tight squeeze through it and head down the right hall. Just then, a witch threw a poisonous potion at them, causing them to collapse. Bonnie was not affected though.
“You wanna play that game huh, bitch!?” Bonnie yelled. The witch cackled and threw another potion at her, but Bonnie kicked it away with her foot. The potion then splattered in the witch’s face, causing her to put her hands over her eyes. Bonnie then shot her to death with her netherite twin bow. As the witch fell, a shiny red object could be seen glowing underneath her robe. Bonnie picked up the item, and it was a redstone key.
“Ugh. I feel like I’m gonna vomit.” Envy finally said.
“Guys, you’re ok!” Bonnie cried. “I found another key!”
“Good.” Sombra said, trying to catch her breath. After exploring for hours, the group found four more keys A copper one, a gold one, an emerald one, and an amethyst one. Along the way, they found more allay prison cells and unlocked them. Eventually, the group found themselves in a massive empty room with multiple paths.
“Ugh! Where the hell are they!?” Bonnie groaned.
“I’m starting to lose hope, Envy!” Siss whined. She was riding on Terrance’s shoulders.
“They’re in here somewhere. I know they are.” Envy said.
“Envy, we’ve been searching all night!” Sombra said. “All we’ve gotten was a bunch of colorful keys!”
“Girls, is that you?!” a voice said.
“Huh?! Who said that!?” Sombra cried.
“In here!” the voice said. The group followed the voice into a dark room. This one however, was loaded with prison cells, and they all had villagers inside them.
“God! Finally!” Bonnie yelled. Some of the villagers began murmuring as they saw the group enter the room.
“Envy, in here!” the voice shouted. Envy walked over to the cell and saw the mayor of Arkala.
“Mayor Victor!” Envy cried. “You’re alive!”
“At least for now.” Mayor Victor chuckled.
“We’re sorry, Mr. Mayor.” Envy said. “We did get the pearl, but Drax somehow knew we were coming.”
“It’s ok, Envy.” Mayor Victor said. “But that’s not important right now. Do you have any ideas on breaking us out?”
“Yes, actually.” Envy answered. “You see, we found these keys scattered out across the mansion. They were used to unlock the other cells.”
“Splendid!” Mayor Victor said. Envy then looked to her right and found the console for the cell doors. There was one issue though. The color of the keyhole didn’t match any of the other keys.
“Oh no.” Envy said.
“What’s wrong, Envy?” Mayor Victor asked.
“This one has a new color. None of these keys fit!”
“What?!” Mayor Victor cried. “What’s the color, Envy?”
“Cyan.” Envy answered. Suddenly, she started hearing the synchronized sound of banging metal echoing throughout the halls. “What’s that noise?” Envy asked.
“Envy, we got company!” Bonnie shouted. Envy ran towards the group outside of the room. The banging got louder and closer. Eventually, the source of the sound was visible, now with the banging noise being followed by a synchronous illager grunt. It was an army of illagers of every type along with some golems. Ranging from archers, to axemen banging their axes on their metal shields, mages, summoners, all of the classes, and some of them have earthbent weapons and armor. Among those in the crowd was Illusioner Juan.
“Greetings, villager lovers.” Illusioner Juan said.
“Who the hell are you?” Bonnie asked.
“Why I’m glad you asked.” Illusioner Juan said. “I’m Illusioner Juan, Lord Drax’s right hand man. And I am here to put an end to your little game.” Envy then noticed something cyan shining underneath his robe.
“Pffft! You think we’re scared of some guy who wears a pair of pajamas on a daily basis?” Bonnie asked.
“It’s a robe, you numbskull b*tch!” Illusioner Juan yelled. “You think y’all can just reach our leader that easily? We think not! Men, attack!” The illagers in the background began to yell. As Envy pulled out her sword and held it in the air she yelled.
“For Ivaaaaaan!” The others repeated after her and charged into battle. Siss cracked her fire whip at the vindicators as they surrounded her. She smacked them in the face one by one, burning them. One however was protected by a shield. As he tried to swing his axe at her, Terrance grabbed his legs and smashed him back and forth. The vindicator groaned in pain as his face was covered in blood.
“Thanks, buddy.” Siss said.
“S……Siss…” Terrance slowly said. Siss gasped.
“Oh….my……God!” Siss said. “You said my name!” Terrance then grabbed Siss just as three vindicators tried to attack her from behind. He then smacked them sideways, causing them to fly into a wall. Bonnie shot down every single pillager around her. As an arrow flew past her, she grabbed it and used it in her netherite crossbow.
“Return to sender!” she said. The arrow then went straight through the pillager’s head. Just then, she was shot in the shoulder. Two pillagers pointed their crossbows as they surrounded her.
“Looks like it’s back to the afterlife for you!” one of them said. Bonnie looked at her surroundings and then used her netherite twin bow.
“Ha! Nice shot!” one of the pillagers said.
“What are you talking about?” Bonnie said. “I never miss.” The pillagers looked at each other, confused. As this happened, the arrows ricocheted all over the room until they shot both of the pillagers in the back of the neck. “Told ya.” Bonnie said as the pillagers fell to the floor, bleeding. Sombra teleported away before the evocation fangs could chomp her legs off. As she reappeared, the evokers summoned vexes after her. Sombra used her lightning rod to electrocute the vexes. She then teleported close by all the evokers and detonated her soul harvester. The evokers were launched up in the air in a white explosion.
“Ha! Is that all you got?” Sombra said. Just then, a massive stone golem stomped towards her. “Oh jeez!” she said as she tried to avoid getting crushed by the golem’s huge arms. Sombra then shot a powerful beam out of her corrupted beacon and torched the golem. Envy slashed her way from illager to illager. She eventually found Illusioner Juan, who was standing there with a bow in his hand.
“Hand over the key, Juan!” Envy barked.
“Oh? You mean this key?” Illusioner Juan asked as he pulled out a diamond key. “Why sure. Come and get it!” Just then, Illusioner Juan split into multiple illusions of himself, surrounding Envy. “But which one of us really has it?” an illusion asked. Envy then ignited her sword with darkrune fire and started swinging at the illusions. “Ah ah ah!” “Wrong!” “Not a smart pick!” each illusion said. They all then started firing arrows at her.
“Guys, help!” Envy cried.
“Your friends can’t save you.” the illusions said all at once. “You’re all alone.” Siss then noticed all the illusions that were surrounding Envy.
“Envy!” she said as she gasped. Siss then took a deep breath. “(You can do this!)” she said to herself. Siss then ran towards the illusions with a giant leap. As she did this, her body started to ignite. As Illusioner Juan was distracted, Envy managed to find the real one and take the diamond key. She then immediately flew away for cover.
“Oh shi-” Illusioner Juan said before Siss blew up in a huge explosion that shook the mansion. After the explosion, the group found all the illagers and golems dead.
“Envy, where are you?” Siss yelled. Just then, Envy swooped in and hugged Siss while laughing.
“Siss, that was amazing!” Envy said.
“Apart from the fact that we almost died.” Bonnie said as she, Sombra, and Terrance walked over.
“Wait! Envy, did you get the key?” Siss asked.
“You know I did!” Envy said as she pulled out the diamond key. The villagers in the prison cells cheered.
“Well what are we waiting for? Let’s get these guys out of her so that we can get to Drax!” Bonnie said. Envy went to the console to unlock the cells. As the villagers ran out of the cells, she told everyone to evacuate the mansion immediately and that Mayor Victor was in charge. With that done, it was finally time to confront Lord Drax.
