Chapter 27 - Sting Operation

“Envy.” Sombra called out. Her, Bonnie, Siss, Spade, Wart, and Haydn have been roaming around, looking for Envy and Simon.

“Where the hell could they be?” Bonnie asked. “We’ve searched everywhere.”

“I haven’t seen them since yesterday morning,” Siss said, “Isn’t that a bit strange?”

“Oh it is very strange, Siss.” Sombra said.

“Come on, guys,” Wart said, “It’s not like Simon and Envy would just disappear from existence or anything.”

“Yeah, maybe they could be somewhere private.” Spade said.

“I bet they’re either on one of the islands or down in the Underworld.” Haydn said. They all then stopped and looked at him. “What?” he said. Sombra then teleported towards him and picked him up.

“Haydn, you genius!” she exhilarated, “Why didn’t we think of that before?”

“I don’t know,” Haydn said, “I just saw that rope over there.” He then pointed to a random rope that led all the way up into the sky.

“If your idea is to go to every single one of those islands, I pass.” Bonnie said.

“Come on, Bonnie,” Haydn said, “Can we at least check this one?” Bonnie then sighed.

“Fine, I’ll go with y’all on this one.” she said. They then approached the rope and climbed all the way up to the top. Elsewhere, Envy woke up and found herself in a dark place.

“What the? Where am I?” she asked. She then noticed that there were chains cuffed to her limbs and tail. She tried to break free, but she failed. She tried to flap her wings, but there was another chain around her torso restraining them. “Simon?”she called out frantically. Just then, she heard clapping echoing from the darkness in front of her. She could see that there was someone approaching below her. Fluorescent lights from above lit the area, which appeared to be some kind of cell room. Envy could clearly see that the person was someone familiar.

“Congratulations on your new marriage, Ms. Envy.” Dr. Pederin said as he slowly clapped his hands. Following behind him were two infected demons.

“You again!” Envy yelled.

“I know. Sorry for the unexpected awakening, am I right?”

“Where the hell am I?” Envy asked, “What even is this?”

“Oh this?” Dr. Pederin asked. “This is just a little cell I built to keep you and your ridiculous looking lover boy in.”

“Simon does not look ridiculous,” Envy yelled, “He’s handsome and looks nothing like a monster like you!”

“Sweetheart,” Dr. Pederin said, “I wasn’t always like this. I used to be a regular human who was always curious to learn about things beyond human understanding.”

"And how did you become what you were now?" Envy asked.

"I'd rather not talk about that." Dr. Pederin responded.

"Why?" She asked again.

"I have exactly what you have," Dr. Pederin said, "Pains of the past, endless grief, instant regret." He then paused for a moment. "Not that that matters now," he continued, "What matters now is what I still have yet to do." He then pulled out a needle containing a sample of the Serpent’s Bidding. As soon as Envy saw him approach with the needle, she tried all her might to break free while panicking. It was too late though. She then felt the sharp needle poke her arm as the infection was injected into her body. Shortly after, nothing happened. Dr. Pederin was surprised. "Wh…What?"

"I….I'm alive…?" Envy said, confused. Dr. Pederin then injected another dose of the infection into her, the same results occurred. Now, he was getting concerned. He then tried other means of transmitting the infection, such as through infectant bites, venom, almost everything, but Envy still survived.

"Bah! How is this possible!?" Dr. Pederin yelled in frustration, "No living thing has ever resisted my control!" Envy then began to grow nauseous as her stomach started to groan.

"I don’t feel so good…" She groaned. Suddenly, she vomited out all of the doses of infection, all over the floor. "Unnnggh! My tummy hurts."

"Oh that's just wonderful!" Dr. Pederin said, annoyed. “Hmm…Alright then, let’s see how your man can handle it.” As soon as he said that, he then pulled out a remote and pressed one of the buttons. A huge blast door on the right side of the chamber opened, revealing a dark room. The fluorescent lights above then lit up the dark area to reveal an empty chamber with loose chains. Dr. Pederin was even more furious. “Bah!?” he yelled, “Oh, I am gonna make sure nothing remains of his moral being!” He then turned to one of the infected demons. “You, get the others and find him.” The demon nodded before flying out of the cell. “And you, stay here and keep an eye on her.” he barked at the other demon. He looked up at Envy. “Don’t try anything funny.” he said before storming out of the cell and shutting the door. Envy hung there, all alone. She then tried to break free from the chains again. She tried everything from yanking, to swinging, pulling, almost everything. She was growing very desperate, thinking her new husband was in danger. She couldn't fly. She couldn't swing her tail around. She couldn't even use her magic to escape. A burning sensation then grew in her throat. A sensation so high, that she just wanted to scream. Before Envy could however, she could hear a stabbing noise along with a blood curdling screech. She looked up to see the infected demon fall to the floor, bleeding. Standing behind him was Simon in his molten gear.

“Simon!” Envy said in joy.

“Shhh!” Simon hushed. “It’s ok, Envy. I’m gonna get you out of here.” He then pulled out a key and unlocked all the chains on her body. Once she was freed, she kissed him and hugged him very tightly.

“Thank the stars you’re ok,” she said in relief, “I thought you were dead.”

“Nah, I was locked up like you.” Simon said.

“How did you even escape?” Envy asked.

“No time to explain,” Simon said, “Here, put this on.” He then handed her her gear and clothes. Envy quickly took both and put them on.

“Alright, what’s the plan?” she asked.

“Grab my hand.” Simon said as he held out his hand. Envy obeyed. They then teleported to the roof of the cell. Envy was shocked when she recognized the environment.

“We’re…..We’re back in the Underworld?” Indeed, they were in the Underworld, as they could see the familiar lava ocean surrounding the island they were on. Down below, there were infected hell enemies everywhere. Some of them were carrying stuff, while some did nothing. “My god, look at all of them!” Envy said.

“Yeah, there’s so many of them.” Simon said. As Envy scaled over the island, she noticed something in the distance. She then looked through her binoculars, and could see Dr. Pederin standing in front of some sort of metal contraption with a pool of shimmer surrounded by 6 pillars. The pillars had a large diamond at the top of each of them.

“Simon, what is that?” Envy asked.

“What do you see, Envy?” he asked. Envy handed him the binoculars. He then saw the contraption. “I don’t know, Envy,” he then said as he handed her back the binoculars. “It looks like some kind of experiment he’s setting up.” Envy looked through the binoculars again and zoomed in on Dr. Pedering Dr. Pederin then walked off into a nearby obsidian brick house, which appeared to be his home.

Back in space, the group finally reached the sky island where Simon proposed to Envy. As they looked around, there were no signs of life.

"Split up. Look for any clues." Haydn said. They searched the entire island and found nothing so far. "Did you guys find anything?" Haydn asked as they reassembled.

"Nope." Sombra said.

"No." Siss said.

"No." Wart said.

"No." Bonnie said. "What about you?"

"Nothing." Haydn said.

"See, I told you they weren't up here." Bonnie said.

"Wait, where's Spade?" Siss asked. Just then, Spade flew over with something in his hands.

"Guys, I found something!" He cried.

"Spade, there you are." Siss said. She then noticed something shiny in his hand. "Wait, what are you holding?" She asked as she took the object.

"What’s that?" Wart asked as he hopped onto Siss’s shoulder.

"Siss, mind if I see it?" Haydn asked. Siss then handed him the object. As he examined it, he gained a concerned look on his face. "Spade, where did you find this?"

"I found it by the water." Spade said.

"What is it, Haydn?" Siss asked.

"This is a tranquilizer dart," Haydn explained, "These things are normally shot at animals or people to make them unconscious for a temporary amount of time."

"You don't think Envy and Simon were shot with these, do you?" Sombra asked.

"I hope not." Haydn said.

"Hey look, another one." Bonnie said as she found another tranquilizer dart on the ground. Haydn picked it up and looked at it.

"Guys, I don’t think they’re ok." Siss said, worried.

"Well, this is definitely not a good sign." Haydn said.

"We need to get back to Endora Manor, pronto!" Sombra said. They all nodded. They then pulled out their magic mirrors and disappeared.

Meanwhile in the Underworld, Envy and Simon took a closer look at the mysterious contraption. Envy examined the metal pillars with the diamonds on top. Three were purple, the other three were red.

"These pillars," Envy said, " They’re made of demonite and crimtane…" Simon looked down into the shimmer pool and saw something beneath the floor.

"Envy, you may wanna come look at this..." he said. Envy looked down into the shimmer and saw the reactor core glowing below. As she looked more closely, she then felt something hit her armor.

“Oi!” a voice yelled out. Envy and Simon looked up as they saw Dr. Pederin watching them from his window. "Leaving so soon?" he asked. Both of them stood in silence, until Simon finally said something.

"Yeaah, uhhhh. We were just about to head out and…..Fly, Envy! Fly!" He then flew away. Envy followed him.

"Seize them!" Dr. Pederin yelled out to his minions. The infected demons and imps chased after them. After flying a good distance, the couple stopped to rest.

"Ok, maybe looking at that machine was a mistake." Envy said, gasping for air.

"I," Simon puffed, "agree…" They then turned around to see the hoard of infectants rapidly approaching them. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Simon asked.

"Time to get the f**k out of here!" Envy replied. Both of them quickly pulled out their magic mirrors and teleported away. As Pederin watched the scene from a far, he chuckled, menacingly.

"Those fools…" he said with a smile on his face. Envy and Simon reappeared in front of Endora Manor. As they looked around they saw Andrew standing not too far away from them.

“Guys, you’re alive!” he said, stoked.

“Andrew!” Simon said, surprised.

“Thank goodness you’re here,” Andrew said, “We’ve been worried sick about y’all.” Sombra then opened the door.

“Andrew, what’s going on out-” She then saw Envy and Simon. “Holy shit! Guys, come out here, quick!” Everyone inside the house rushed outside and crowded around Envy and Simon as they saw them.

“Envy!” Siss shouted in joy.

“Siss!” Envy said back as she picked up Siss and hugged her.

“Simon!” Wart shouted.

“Wart!” Simon said back before High Fiving each other. Mocha the beagle jumped onto Envy and licked her face. Envy eventually stood back up as Mocha walked off of her.

“Where the hell have y’all been? We’ve looked everywhere for y’all!” Bonnie said. Everyone else then began asking questions.

“Guys! Guys! Calm down!” Andrew then shouted, “Give them some space for a moment.” Everyone then stepped back away from the couple.

“Thank you, Andrew.” Envy said. She then remembered something. “Wait. Simon, do you still have what you gave me?” Simon looked confused at first, but then immediately figured out what she was talking about.

“Oh yeah, Envy,” he said, “I got it right here.” He then pulled out the box with the diamond ring in it and opened it. Everyone gasped as they saw the ring. “Relax, guys. It happened last night.” Simon said to the crowd. Everyone then cheered. Eventually, they calmed down.

“Congrats, you two!” Xavier shouted, holding Holly’s hand.

“Yeah!” Holly cheered. The other Darkrune Defenders cheered once more.

“We need to have a party for this!” Fantasy burst in excitement.

“Umm, I think you mean a wedding.” Sarx restated. He then turned to Brooke, who was holding his hand. Brooke was squinting at something red blinking on Envy’s buttcheek. “Brooke, what’s wrong?” Sarx asked.

“Wait here a second.” she said as she walked towards Envy. She then called out her name. When Envy turned around, Siss noticed the blinking red light on her buttcheek too.

“Envy, what’s that on your ass?” she asked. Envy turned to Siss.

“Huh? What are you talking about?” Envy asked before she felt something being popped off of her armor. She turned back to Brooke who was holding a strange microchip with a red blinking light. Just then, Simon’s sculk sensor clicked and he heard the sound of buzzing. He looked up and saw a huge figure swooping down towards them. He gasped and then looked at Envy. Before the figure could reach Envy, Simon quickly swooped up in the air and swiped the figure with his Excalibur. The figure then wonkily flew away and then stopped to hover in midair. The crowd looked up at the figure in concern.

“Sorry to crash the party!” A voice echoed from the figure. Envy’s heart sank as she realized that the figure was Dr. Pederin riding on the infected Queen Bee. He also had a pair of goggles on his head. Siss felt paralyzed as she recognized that old voice.

“You!” she whispered.

“What the f**k are you doing here!?” Bonnie yelled.

“Silence!” Dr. Pederin yelled. “I am not talking to you. I do have to say, Ms. Envy. That was a pretty slick move that you and your hubbie pulled off, but not slick enough.”

“Huh?” Envy said in confusion.

“You see, when I spotted you two messing around with my latest project, I was going to come attack you two myself at first, but then I thought of a different idea.” He then pulled out an advanced looking cell phone that looked to be in the shape of a seashell. He then flipped it open. “Do you know what this is?”

“N….no.” Envy answered.

“That’s……That’s a shell phone!” Andrew said.

“Indeed,” Dr. Pederin said, “With this, I can travel almost anywhere I want. And best of all, I have made these little microchips that act as a tracker and a transportable warp checkpoint, like the one I planted on your armor, Envy. That’s right. While you were distracted by the iridescent liquid in the center, I grabbed one and shot it through a special gun that I made for it. I let y’all escape, and tracked your location on my shell phone. So in conclusion, all you did was put you and your friends right in the palm of my hand.” Envy was paralyzed with every negative emotion imaginable. She couldn’t believe she put all of them in danger. “Awww, don’t be such a baby. They’ll be in good hands. Promise me.” Dr. Pederin said, menacingly. Envy's stance became more and more tense as she grew more overwhelmed. Her breathing grew heavier and more distressed.

"E…Envy?" Simon said. Just then, Envy breathed a huge stream of purple fire up into the sky as she screamed at the top of her lungs which then turned into a roar. Dr. Pederin and the Queen Bee flew out of the way before the fire could reach them. The fire diminished as Envy stopped screaming. She looked at Dr. Pederin dead in the eyes with pure hatred.

"You bloody maniac!" Dr. Pederin yelled. "You almost cooked me!"

"Good!" Envy said.

"Whoa," Simon said in amazement, "Why can't I do that?"

"Ok, Envy. I'll put it this way," Dr. Pederin said, "We can do this the easy way or the hard way. You can come back with me, and I'll leave your friends be. Either that, or else we will have to take you down ourselves."

"Pffft! You and what army?" Xavier asked.

"What army?" Dr. Pederin repeated. "Well I’m glad you asked, pal." As he snapped his fingers, the Queen Bee called out in a loud screech. A swarm of infected hornets then arrived from the East. By looking at the swarm, there was said to be approximately thousands of them. Everyone stood frozen as they watched the army of hornets show up behind them. It was at this moment that Xavier knew, he f**ked up.

"Ah piss." he said.

"Bet you have second thoughts now, huh?" Dr. Pederin said. "So, what's it gonna be? Easy or hard?" They all looked at each other for a moment before nodding at each other. Then without warning, Bonnie and Xavier both pulled out their weapons and opened fire at the hornets. Dr. Pederin put his goggles on his eyes. The Queen Bee screeched and charged at them. Xavier and Bonnie hit the dirt as the giant bee passed over them. The Queen Bee crashed into the house. The other hornets then attacked.

"Attack!" Envy yelled. The other townspeople shouted with her and charged at the swarm of hornets. Bonnie, Siss, Haydn, and Spade joined them. Meanwhile, Envy. Simon, Sombra, and Wart focused on Pederin. The Queen Bee turned around and charged Sombra. Sombra easily teleported out of the way. The Queen Bee then charged after Simon and then Envy. The Queen Bee hovered in the air and started shooting infected bees from her bottom. As the bees approached them, Envy quickly sprayed her volcano greatsword and blade of grass with purple fire. By doing this, she was able to easily fend off the bees. Sombra casted demon scythes at the Queen Bee and then fired her space gun and zapinator several times.

"Bah! How dare you!!" Dr. Pederin said in anger. "Maybe a needle through your heart will teach you something!" As the Queen Bee swooped down towards Sombra, Dr. Pederin stuck out his needle like a jousting lance. From left to right, the townspeople fought for their lives, trying to defend themselves. Akbar stabbed his exotic scimitar into an infected hornet, killing it. Annabell used her giant scissors to cut in half a hornet that was behind him. He turned around and nodded at her. Haydn stood back to back with Dolgrim and James as they obliterated any infectant that came near.

“This is Awwwsooome!” Dolgrim yelled as he laughed in glory. He then threw another bomb at another infected hornet. James casted a swarm of skulls at more infected hornets approaching him. Haydn smashed a nearby infected hornet with one of his shadownite hammers. He then smashed another one, then another one. Soon enough, there were so many of them, that the trio was starting to grow overwhelmed. Just before the hornets could attack, a bunch of shadow hands manifested and ripped them to shreds. The trio turned around to see Bonnie, Xavier, and Holly standing behind them.

“Need a little help?” Bonnie asked.

“Bonnie!” Haydn said.

“Perfect timing, guys,” James said, “These hornets are getting out of control!”

“Yes, we could use more boom power!” Dolgrim said.

“Well you’ve come to the right people!” Xavier said, pulling out his minishark.

“Less talking, more fighting,” Holly said, “We’ve got more incoming!” More infected hornets showed up. Calista then activated her blessing field spell, buffing everyone on the battlefield. Dr. Pederin was growing furious. Every time he tried to joust Sombra, she would teleport away and shoot her space gun at the Queen Bee. This occurred over and over again.

“GRRAAAA! Stand still you insignificant little-” Just then, Dr. Pederin was knocked off the Queen Bee as Simon threw Wart at his face. Pederin hit the ground with a thud. The Queen Bee then roared before ballistically charging all over the place. Simon grew dizzy as this happened. The Queen Bee then stopped and fired stingers at him. Envy jumped in the way and deflected the stingers with her obsidian shield. The Queen Bee charged at her. Envy quickly grabbed Simon and flew away. The Queen Bee crashed into the house. It turned around and roared as it flew after Envy. Envy landed on the roof where she let Simon rest a little bit. The Queen Bee stared at her as she hovered over the roof. Envy took out her two swords and stood in a tense position. Bindi held Charcoal the dutch bunny tightly as an infected hornet approached them with its stinger. William then smacked an infected hornet from behind with his golf club.

“Whew! That was close.” he said.

“Thanks, Big Bro.” Bindi said. Just then, William noticed another swarm of infected hornets behind her.

“Bindi, watch out!” William cried. He then pushed her to the ground as the hornets shot their stingers at him. William then collapsed.

“William!” Bindi cried. U’wa shot a poison dart at an infected hornet, but then another hornet shot him in the neck. U’wa yelled as he fell to the ground.

“U’wa!” Calista cried. She quickly rushed over to him.

“Th…There’s too many of them!” U’wa said before he collapsed. The slimes, one by one, became infected. Siss lashed and lashed, violently at the hornets. Spade hid behind her shoulders, frightened.

“Siss, I’m scared! I don’t want to die like this!” he cried.

“Don’t worry, little buddy. You’re not alone.” Bruce said from behind before throwing ale at an incoming infected hornet. Kronos slashed an infected hornet with one of his katanas.

“Siss, we need to retreat!” he said as he slashed another. Just then, Envy crashed in front of them with a huge thud.

“Envy!” Siss cried. The Queen Bee buzzed angrily up above. As Envy stood back up, her body began to charge up with dark energy. Eventually, Envy transformed into her Darkmatter mode and flew straight up at the Queen Bee. She then aggressively attacked her from left to right. The Queen Bee roared aggressively and charged towards Envy. Envy kicked it in the head and caused it to fall back towards the ground. The Queen Bee quickly recovered and then charged Envy into the house. After several minutes, The Queen Bee was weak with poison and fire. As the Queen Bee made one final charge, Envy screamed a huge stream of fire at it like a jet engine. The Queen Bee screeched in agony as it was incinerated. Envy floated down as her Darkmatter mode wore off. Simon landed beside her.

"Ugh. What happened?" Simon asked, a little sick to his stomach.

"Babe!" Envy said.

"Woooo!" Wart shouted. "Simon, that was awesome! We've gotta do that again!"

"There you two are!" Sombra said, relieved.

"Oi!" A voice yelled. Everyone turned to the source of the sound. Sombra gasped as she saw Dr. Pederin holding Haydn with a giant needle up against his neck. "This has gone on long enough, Envy!" Dr. Pederin barked. “Surrender now! Or else Parker gets it!” Haydn was nervous, but remained calm.

"Babe!" Sombra cried. As she tried to get him, a line of infected hornets blocked her path.

"Not one more step from you!" Dr. Pederin yelled. "I wasn't talking to you." He then turned back to Envy. Half of the townspeople slowly shuffled from behind Dr. Pederin. They were all infected. "I'm going to give you 10 seconds to make a decision, Envy. If you don't…." He said, before doing a finger to the throat gesture. He then started counting down. "10…9…8…7…6…" As Pederin grew closer to 0, his needle grew more and more tense against Haydn’s neck. "...5…4…3…2…"

"Ulysses, stop!" a voice suddenly yelled. Everyone looked at Siss. "Stop it! Please just let Haydn go." she pleaded.

"I'm sorry, I don’t even know who you are." Dr. Pederin said.

"Yes you do." Siss said as she pulled down her scarf. "If you really don't remember me, then how do you explain this?" She then took off her obsidian coat and shirt. Dr. Pederin's eyes widened in disbelief as he removed his goggles. He noticed a huge scar going down her chest. Everyone else gasped as they saw a particular tattoo on her back that displayed the number, 221.

"P….Prototype 221?" Dr. Pederin said.

"Yes! It's me, your long lost experiment who ran away all those years!" Siss cried.

"Don’t let him go anywhere." Dr. Pederin said as he let go of Haydn. Haydn was then restrained by infected hornets. Dr. Pederin slowly walked up to Siss until he was up close to her. He then hugged her as if she was his long lost child. "Welcome back." he said with tears in his eyes.

“Siss?” a voice spoke. Bonnie was standing close by with Xavier and Holly. A line of infected hornets then blocked their path.

“I’m sorry, Bonnie. I didn’t want you to know about this.” Siss said.

“B….But why?” Bonnie asked.

“That doesn’t matter now.” Dr. Pederin said. He then thought of a brilliant idea. “Hmm. Say, 221,” he said, “Now that you’re here, could you do a small favor for me?”

“Wh…What’s that?” Siss asked, nervously.

“Fulfill your purpose and obliterate Haydn.” Dr. Pederin said in a menacing tone. Sombra gasped in fear.

“No, Siss! Don’t do it!” she cried. Siss stalled for a moment and then finally answered.

“Yes, Master.” Dr. Pederin then grew a menacing grin on his face.

“Good.” he said. Siss then slowly walked towards Haydn, who was still restrained by the hornets.

“Siss,” Haydn said, “You’re not actually going to kill me, are you?” Siss then stopped in front of him. For a moment, she just stood there, staring at him.

“Why are you stalling, 221?” Dr. Pederin asked. “Don’t tell me you’re going to make the same mistake as last time! Do your duty and DESTROY HIM!!!”

“I…I’m sorry, Haydn…” Siss quivered as her body began to hiss. As she stared at Haydn, a flashback came back to her.

{Mother: “Please spare us!” *clutches her child tightly*

Siss: *turns around to see Dr. Pederin behind her*

Dr. Pederin: *points at the family* “Kill!”

Siss: *turns back to the family and then blows up*}

Just then, Siss defused herself and fell to her knees, crying.

“Dammit, 221!” Dr. Pederin furiously yelled. “Fine! If you’re not going to eliminate him, I may as well do it myself.” He then approached Haydn. Just before he could jab his toxic needle into Haydn’s body, a combat wrench struck him in his bruised eye. Dr. Pederin fell on his back. “Ow! My bad eye!” he yelled. Brooke caught her combat wrench as it came back to her like a boomerang. Siss then quickly got back onto her feet and summoned all of her minions to attack the infected hornets restraining Haydn. All of the other hornets then flew all over the place. The other Darkrune Defenders and the surviving townspeople rushed over to Haydn and Siss.

“Haydn!” Sombra shouted in relief.

“Sombra!” Haydn shouted back. Sombra then picked him up and gave him a deep kiss.

“Thank God you’re safe!” she said.

“Siss, you’re an experiment?” Envy asked.

“Why didn’t you tell us about this?” Bonnie asked. Dr. Pederin groaned as he laid on the ground.

“Guys, there’s no time to explain! You need to get out of here! I’ll hold them off!” Siss said.

“B….But Siss-” Envy stuttered.

“JUST GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” Siss screamed as her body hissed again. Everyone then fled the scene, leaving Siss behind.

Chapter 27 - Sting Operation

“Where the hell could they be?” Bonnie asked. “We’ve searched everywhere.”

“I haven’t seen them since yesterday morning,” Siss said, “Isn’t that a bit strange?”

“Oh it is very strange, Siss.” Sombra said.

“Come on, guys,” Wart said, “It’s not like Simon and Envy would just disappear from existence or anything.”

“Yeah, maybe they could be somewhere private.” Spade said.

“I bet they’re either on one of the islands or down in the Underworld.” Haydn said. They all then stopped and looked at him. “What?” he said. Sombra then teleported towards him and picked him up.

“Haydn, you genius!” she exhilarated, “Why didn’t we think of that before?”

“I don’t know,” Haydn said, “I just saw that rope over there.” He then pointed to a random rope that led all the way up into the sky.

“If your idea is to go to every single one of those islands, I pass.” Bonnie said.

“Come on, Bonnie,” Haydn said, “Can we at least check this one?” Bonnie then sighed.

“Fine, I’ll go with y’all on this one.” she said. They then approached the rope and climbed all the way up to the top. Elsewhere, Envy woke up and found herself in a dark place.

“What the? Where am I?” she asked. She then noticed that there were chains cuffed to her limbs and tail. She tried to break free, but she failed. She tried to flap her wings, but there was another chain around her torso restraining them. “Simon?”she called out frantically. Just then, she heard clapping echoing from the darkness in front of her. She could see that there was someone approaching below her. Fluorescent lights from above lit the area, which appeared to be some kind of cell room. Envy could clearly see that the person was someone familiar.

“Congratulations on your new marriage, Ms. Envy.” Dr. Pederin said as he slowly clapped his hands. Following behind him were two infected demons.

“You again!” Envy yelled.

“I know. Sorry for the unexpected awakening, am I right?”

“Where the hell am I?” Envy asked, “What even is this?”

“Oh this?” Dr. Pederin asked. “This is just a little cell I built to keep you and your ridiculous looking lover boy in.”

“Simon does not look ridiculous,” Envy yelled, “He’s handsome and looks nothing like a monster like you!”

“Sweetheart,” Dr. Pederin said, “I wasn’t always like this. I used to be a regular human who was always curious to learn about things beyond human understanding.”

"And how did you become what you were now?" Envy asked.

"I'd rather not talk about that." Dr. Pederin responded.

"Why?" She asked again.

"I have exactly what you have," Dr. Pederin said, "Pains of the past, endless grief, instant regret." He then paused for a moment. "Not that that matters now," he continued, "What matters now is what I still have yet to do." He then pulled out a needle containing a sample of the Serpent’s Bidding. As soon as Envy saw him approach with the needle, she tried all her might to break free while panicking. It was too late though. She then felt the sharp needle poke her arm as the infection was injected into her body. Shortly after, nothing happened. Dr. Pederin was surprised. "Wh…What?"

"I….I'm alive…?" Envy said, confused. Dr. Pederin then injected another dose of the infection into her, the same results occurred. Now, he was getting concerned. He then tried other means of transmitting the infection, such as through infectant bites, venom, almost everything, but Envy still survived.

"Bah! How is this possible!?" Dr. Pederin yelled in frustration, "No living thing has ever resisted my control!" Envy then began to grow nauseous as her stomach started to groan.

"I don’t feel so good…" She groaned. Suddenly, she vomited out all of the doses of infection, all over the floor. "Unnnggh! My tummy hurts."

"Oh that's just wonderful!" Dr. Pederin said, annoyed. “Hmm…Alright then, let’s see how your man can handle it.” As soon as he said that, he then pulled out a remote and pressed one of the buttons. A huge blast door on the right side of the chamber opened, revealing a dark room. The fluorescent lights above then lit up the dark area to reveal an empty chamber with loose chains. Dr. Pederin was even more furious. “Bah!?” he yelled, “Oh, I am gonna make sure nothing remains of his moral being!” He then turned to one of the infected demons. “You, get the others and find him.” The demon nodded before flying out of the cell. “And you, stay here and keep an eye on her.” he barked at the other demon. He looked up at Envy. “Don’t try anything funny.” he said before storming out of the cell and shutting the door. Envy hung there, all alone. She then tried to break free from the chains again. She tried everything from yanking, to swinging, pulling, almost everything. She was growing very desperate, thinking her new husband was in danger. She couldn't fly. She couldn't swing her tail around. She couldn't even use her magic to escape. A burning sensation then grew in her throat. A sensation so high, that she just wanted to scream. Before Envy could however, she could hear a stabbing noise along with a blood curdling screech. She looked up to see the infected demon fall to the floor, bleeding. Standing behind him was Simon in his molten gear.

“Simon!” Envy said in joy.

“Shhh!” Simon hushed. “It’s ok, Envy. I’m gonna get you out of here.” He then pulled out a key and unlocked all the chains on her body. Once she was freed, she kissed him and hugged him very tightly.

“Thank the stars you’re ok,” she said in relief, “I thought you were dead.”

“Nah, I was locked up like you.” Simon said.

“How did you even escape?” Envy asked.

“No time to explain,” Simon said, “Here, put this on.” He then handed her her gear and clothes. Envy quickly took both and put them on.

“Alright, what’s the plan?” she asked.

“Grab my hand.” Simon said as he held out his hand. Envy obeyed. They then teleported to the roof of the cell. Envy was shocked when she recognized the environment.

“We’re…..We’re back in the Underworld?” Indeed, they were in the Underworld, as they could see the familiar lava ocean surrounding the island they were on. Down below, there were infected hell enemies everywhere. Some of them were carrying stuff, while some did nothing. “My god, look at all of them!” Envy said.

“Yeah, there’s so many of them.” Simon said. As Envy scaled over the island, she noticed something in the distance. She then looked through her binoculars, and could see Dr. Pederin standing in front of some sort of metal contraption with a pool of shimmer surrounded by 6 pillars. The pillars had a large diamond at the top of each of them.

“Simon, what is that?” Envy asked.

“What do you see, Envy?” he asked. Envy handed him the binoculars. He then saw the contraption. “I don’t know, Envy,” he then said as he handed her back the binoculars. “It looks like some kind of experiment he’s setting up.” Envy looked through the binoculars again and zoomed in on Dr. Pedering Dr. Pederin then walked off into a nearby obsidian brick house, which appeared to be his home.

Back in space, the group finally reached the sky island where Simon proposed to Envy. As they looked around, there were no signs of life.

"Split up. Look for any clues." Haydn said. They searched the entire island and found nothing so far. "Did you guys find anything?" Haydn asked as they reassembled.

"Nope." Sombra said.

"No." Siss said.

"No." Wart said.

"No." Bonnie said. "What about you?"

"Nothing." Haydn said.

"See, I told you they weren't up here." Bonnie said.

"Wait, where's Spade?" Siss asked. Just then, Spade flew over with something in his hands.

"Guys, I found something!" He cried.

"Spade, there you are." Siss said. She then noticed something shiny in his hand. "Wait, what are you holding?" She asked as she took the object.

"What’s that?" Wart asked as he hopped onto Siss’s shoulder.

"Siss, mind if I see it?" Haydn asked. Siss then handed him the object. As he examined it, he gained a concerned look on his face. "Spade, where did you find this?"

"I found it by the water." Spade said.

"What is it, Haydn?" Siss asked.

"This is a tranquilizer dart," Haydn explained, "These things are normally shot at animals or people to make them unconscious for a temporary amount of time."

"You don't think Envy and Simon were shot with these, do you?" Sombra asked.

"I hope not." Haydn said.

"Hey look, another one." Bonnie said as she found another tranquilizer dart on the ground. Haydn picked it up and looked at it.

"Guys, I don’t think they’re ok." Siss said, worried.

"Well, this is definitely not a good sign." Haydn said.

"We need to get back to Endora Manor, pronto!" Sombra said. They all nodded. They then pulled out their magic mirrors and disappeared.

Meanwhile in the Underworld, Envy and Simon took a closer look at the mysterious contraption. Envy examined the metal pillars with the diamonds on top. Three were purple, the other three were red.

"These pillars," Envy said, " They’re made of demonite and crimtane…" Simon looked down into the shimmer pool and saw something beneath the floor.

"Envy, you may wanna come look at this..." he said. Envy looked down into the shimmer and saw the reactor core glowing below. As she looked more closely, she then felt something hit her armor.

“Oi!” a voice yelled out. Envy and Simon looked up as they saw Dr. Pederin watching them from his window. "Leaving so soon?" he asked. Both of them stood in silence, until Simon finally said something.

"Yeaah, uhhhh. We were just about to head out and…..Fly, Envy! Fly!" He then flew away. Envy followed him.

"Seize them!" Dr. Pederin yelled out to his minions. The infected demons and imps chased after them. After flying a good distance, the couple stopped to rest.

"Ok, maybe looking at that machine was a mistake." Envy said, gasping for air.

"I," Simon puffed, "agree…" They then turned around to see the hoard of infectants rapidly approaching them. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Simon asked.

"Time to get the f**k out of here!" Envy replied. Both of them quickly pulled out their magic mirrors and teleported away. As Pederin watched the scene from a far, he chuckled, menacingly.

"Those fools…" he said with a smile on his face. Envy and Simon reappeared in front of Endora Manor. As they looked around they saw Andrew standing not too far away from them.

“Guys, you’re alive!” he said, stoked.

“Andrew!” Simon said, surprised.

“Thank goodness you’re here,” Andrew said, “We’ve been worried sick about y’all.” Sombra then opened the door.

“Andrew, what’s going on out-” She then saw Envy and Simon. “Holy shit! Guys, come out here, quick!” Everyone inside the house rushed outside and crowded around Envy and Simon as they saw them.

“Envy!” Siss shouted in joy.

“Siss!” Envy said back as she picked up Siss and hugged her.

“Simon!” Wart shouted.

“Wart!” Simon said back before High Fiving each other. Mocha the beagle jumped onto Envy and licked her face. Envy eventually stood back up as Mocha walked off of her.

“Where the hell have y’all been? We’ve looked everywhere for y’all!” Bonnie said. Everyone else then began asking questions.

“Guys! Guys! Calm down!” Andrew then shouted, “Give them some space for a moment.” Everyone then stepped back away from the couple.

“Thank you, Andrew.” Envy said. She then remembered something. “Wait. Simon, do you still have what you gave me?” Simon looked confused at first, but then immediately figured out what she was talking about.

“Oh yeah, Envy,” he said, “I got it right here.” He then pulled out the box with the diamond ring in it and opened it. Everyone gasped as they saw the ring. “Relax, guys. It happened last night.” Simon said to the crowd. Everyone then cheered. Eventually, they calmed down.

“Congrats, you two!” Xavier shouted, holding Holly’s hand.

“Yeah!” Holly cheered. The other Darkrune Defenders cheered once more.

“We need to have a party for this!” Fantasy burst in excitement.

“Umm, I think you mean a wedding.” Sarx restated. He then turned to Brooke, who was holding his hand. Brooke was squinting at something red blinking on Envy’s buttcheek. “Brooke, what’s wrong?” Sarx asked.

“Wait here a second.” she said as she walked towards Envy. She then called out her name. When Envy turned around, Siss noticed the blinking red light on her buttcheek too.

“Envy, what’s that on your ass?” she asked. Envy turned to Siss.

“Huh? What are you talking about?” Envy asked before she felt something being popped off of her armor. She turned back to Brooke who was holding a strange microchip with a red blinking light. Just then, Simon’s sculk sensor clicked and he heard the sound of buzzing. He looked up and saw a huge figure swooping down towards them. He gasped and then looked at Envy. Before the figure could reach Envy, Simon quickly swooped up in the air and swiped the figure with his Excalibur. The figure then wonkily flew away and then stopped to hover in midair. The crowd looked up at the figure in concern.

“Sorry to crash the party!” A voice echoed from the figure. Envy’s heart sank as she realized that the figure was Dr. Pederin riding on the infected Queen Bee. He also had a pair of goggles on his head. Siss felt paralyzed as she recognized that old voice.

“You!” she whispered.

“What the f**k are you doing here!?” Bonnie yelled.

“Silence!” Dr. Pederin yelled. “I am not talking to you. I do have to say, Ms. Envy. That was a pretty slick move that you and your hubbie pulled off, but not slick enough.”

“Huh?” Envy said in confusion.

“You see, when I spotted you two messing around with my latest project, I was going to come attack you two myself at first, but then I thought of a different idea.” He then pulled out an advanced looking cell phone that looked to be in the shape of a seashell. He then flipped it open. “Do you know what this is?”

“N….no.” Envy answered.

“That’s……That’s a shell phone!” Andrew said.

“Indeed,” Dr. Pederin said, “With this, I can travel almost anywhere I want. And best of all, I have made these little microchips that act as a tracker and a transportable warp checkpoint, like the one I planted on your armor, Envy. That’s right. While you were distracted by the iridescent liquid in the center, I grabbed one and shot it through a special gun that I made for it. I let y’all escape, and tracked your location on my shell phone. So in conclusion, all you did was put you and your friends right in the palm of my hand.” Envy was paralyzed with every negative emotion imaginable. She couldn’t believe she put all of them in danger. “Awww, don’t be such a baby. They’ll be in good hands. Promise me.” Dr. Pederin said, menacingly. Envy's stance became more and more tense as she grew more overwhelmed. Her breathing grew heavier and more distressed.

"E…Envy?" Simon said. Just then, Envy breathed a huge stream of purple fire up into the sky as she screamed at the top of her lungs which then turned into a roar. Dr. Pederin and the Queen Bee flew out of the way before the fire could reach them. The fire diminished as Envy stopped screaming. She looked at Dr. Pederin dead in the eyes with pure hatred.

"You bloody maniac!" Dr. Pederin yelled. "You almost cooked me!"

"Good!" Envy said.

"Whoa," Simon said in amazement, "Why can't I do that?"

"Ok, Envy. I'll put it this way," Dr. Pederin said, "We can do this the easy way or the hard way. You can come back with me, and I'll leave your friends be. Either that, or else we will have to take you down ourselves."

"Pffft! You and what army?" Xavier asked.

"What army?" Dr. Pederin repeated. "Well I’m glad you asked, pal." As he snapped his fingers, the Queen Bee called out in a loud screech. A swarm of infected hornets then arrived from the East. By looking at the swarm, there was said to be approximately thousands of them. Everyone stood frozen as they watched the army of hornets show up behind them. It was at this moment that Xavier knew, he f**ked up.

"Ah piss." he said.

"Bet you have second thoughts now, huh?" Dr. Pederin said. "So, what's it gonna be? Easy or hard?" They all looked at each other for a moment before nodding at each other. Then without warning, Bonnie and Xavier both pulled out their weapons and opened fire at the hornets. Dr. Pederin put his goggles on his eyes. The Queen Bee screeched and charged at them. Xavier and Bonnie hit the dirt as the giant bee passed over them. The Queen Bee crashed into the house. The other hornets then attacked.

"Attack!" Envy yelled. The other townspeople shouted with her and charged at the swarm of hornets. Bonnie, Siss, Haydn, and Spade joined them. Meanwhile, Envy. Simon, Sombra, and Wart focused on Pederin. The Queen Bee turned around and charged Sombra. Sombra easily teleported out of the way. The Queen Bee then charged after Simon and then Envy. The Queen Bee hovered in the air and started shooting infected bees from her bottom. As the bees approached them, Envy quickly sprayed her volcano greatsword and blade of grass with purple fire. By doing this, she was able to easily fend off the bees. Sombra casted demon scythes at the Queen Bee and then fired her space gun and zapinator several times.

"Bah! How dare you!!" Dr. Pederin said in anger. "Maybe a needle through your heart will teach you something!" As the Queen Bee swooped down towards Sombra, Dr. Pederin stuck out his needle like a jousting lance. From left to right, the townspeople fought for their lives, trying to defend themselves. Akbar stabbed his exotic scimitar into an infected hornet, killing it. Annabell used her giant scissors to cut in half a hornet that was behind him. He turned around and nodded at her. Haydn stood back to back with Dolgrim and James as they obliterated any infectant that came near.

“This is Awwwsooome!” Dolgrim yelled as he laughed in glory. He then threw another bomb at another infected hornet. James casted a swarm of skulls at more infected hornets approaching him. Haydn smashed a nearby infected hornet with one of his shadownite hammers. He then smashed another one, then another one. Soon enough, there were so many of them, that the trio was starting to grow overwhelmed. Just before the hornets could attack, a bunch of shadow hands manifested and ripped them to shreds. The trio turned around to see Bonnie, Xavier, and Holly standing behind them.

“Need a little help?” Bonnie asked.

“Bonnie!” Haydn said.

“Perfect timing, guys,” James said, “These hornets are getting out of control!”

“Yes, we could use more boom power!” Dolgrim said.

“Well you’ve come to the right people!” Xavier said, pulling out his minishark.

“Less talking, more fighting,” Holly said, “We’ve got more incoming!” More infected hornets showed up. Calista then activated her blessing field spell, buffing everyone on the battlefield. Dr. Pederin was growing furious. Every time he tried to joust Sombra, she would teleport away and shoot her space gun at the Queen Bee. This occurred over and over again.

“GRRAAAA! Stand still you insignificant little-” Just then, Dr. Pederin was knocked off the Queen Bee as Simon threw Wart at his face. Pederin hit the ground with a thud. The Queen Bee then roared before ballistically charging all over the place. Simon grew dizzy as this happened. The Queen Bee then stopped and fired stingers at him. Envy jumped in the way and deflected the stingers with her obsidian shield. The Queen Bee charged at her. Envy quickly grabbed Simon and flew away. The Queen Bee crashed into the house. It turned around and roared as it flew after Envy. Envy landed on the roof where she let Simon rest a little bit. The Queen Bee stared at her as she hovered over the roof. Envy took out her two swords and stood in a tense position. Bindi held Charcoal the dutch bunny tightly as an infected hornet approached them with its stinger. William then smacked an infected hornet from behind with his golf club.

“Whew! That was close.” he said.

“Thanks, Big Bro.” Bindi said. Just then, William noticed another swarm of infected hornets behind her.

“Bindi, watch out!” William cried. He then pushed her to the ground as the hornets shot their stingers at him. William then collapsed.

“William!” Bindi cried. U’wa shot a poison dart at an infected hornet, but then another hornet shot him in the neck. U’wa yelled as he fell to the ground.

“U’wa!” Calista cried. She quickly rushed over to him.

“Th…There’s too many of them!” U’wa said before he collapsed. The slimes, one by one, became infected. Siss lashed and lashed, violently at the hornets. Spade hid behind her shoulders, frightened.

“Siss, I’m scared! I don’t want to die like this!” he cried.

“Don’t worry, little buddy. You’re not alone.” Bruce said from behind before throwing ale at an incoming infected hornet. Kronos slashed an infected hornet with one of his katanas.

“Siss, we need to retreat!” he said as he slashed another. Just then, Envy crashed in front of them with a huge thud.

“Envy!” Siss cried. The Queen Bee buzzed angrily up above. As Envy stood back up, her body began to charge up with dark energy. Eventually, Envy transformed into her Darkmatter mode and flew straight up at the Queen Bee. She then aggressively attacked her from left to right. The Queen Bee roared aggressively and charged towards Envy. Envy kicked it in the head and caused it to fall back towards the ground. The Queen Bee quickly recovered and then charged Envy into the house. After several minutes, The Queen Bee was weak with poison and fire. As the Queen Bee made one final charge, Envy screamed a huge stream of fire at it like a jet engine. The Queen Bee screeched in agony as it was incinerated. Envy floated down as her Darkmatter mode wore off. Simon landed beside her.

"Ugh. What happened?" Simon asked, a little sick to his stomach.

"Babe!" Envy said.

"Woooo!" Wart shouted. "Simon, that was awesome! We've gotta do that again!"

"There you two are!" Sombra said, relieved.

"Oi!" A voice yelled. Everyone turned to the source of the sound. Sombra gasped as she saw Dr. Pederin holding Haydn with a giant needle up against his neck. "This has gone on long enough, Envy!" Dr. Pederin barked. “Surrender now! Or else Parker gets it!” Haydn was nervous, but remained calm.

"Babe!" Sombra cried. As she tried to get him, a line of infected hornets blocked her path.

"Not one more step from you!" Dr. Pederin yelled. "I wasn't talking to you." He then turned back to Envy. Half of the townspeople slowly shuffled from behind Dr. Pederin. They were all infected. "I'm going to give you 10 seconds to make a decision, Envy. If you don't…." He said, before doing a finger to the throat gesture. He then started counting down. "10…9…8…7…6…" As Pederin grew closer to 0, his needle grew more and more tense against Haydn’s neck. "...5…4…3…2…"

"Ulysses, stop!" a voice suddenly yelled. Everyone looked at Siss. "Stop it! Please just let Haydn go." she pleaded.

"I'm sorry, I don’t even know who you are." Dr. Pederin said.

"Yes you do." Siss said as she pulled down her scarf. "If you really don't remember me, then how do you explain this?" She then took off her obsidian coat and shirt. Dr. Pederin's eyes widened in disbelief as he removed his goggles. He noticed a huge scar going down her chest. Everyone else gasped as they saw a particular tattoo on her back that displayed the number, 221.

"P….Prototype 221?" Dr. Pederin said.

"Yes! It's me, your long lost experiment who ran away all those years!" Siss cried.

"Don’t let him go anywhere." Dr. Pederin said as he let go of Haydn. Haydn was then restrained by infected hornets. Dr. Pederin slowly walked up to Siss until he was up close to her. He then hugged her as if she was his long lost child. "Welcome back." he said with tears in his eyes.

“Siss?” a voice spoke. Bonnie was standing close by with Xavier and Holly. A line of infected hornets then blocked their path.

“I’m sorry, Bonnie. I didn’t want you to know about this.” Siss said.

“B….But why?” Bonnie asked.

“That doesn’t matter now.” Dr. Pederin said. He then thought of a brilliant idea. “Hmm. Say, 221,” he said, “Now that you’re here, could you do a small favor for me?”

“Wh…What’s that?” Siss asked, nervously.

“Fulfill your purpose and obliterate Haydn.” Dr. Pederin said in a menacing tone. Sombra gasped in fear.

“No, Siss! Don’t do it!” she cried. Siss stalled for a moment and then finally answered.

“Yes, Master.” Dr. Pederin then grew a menacing grin on his face.

“Good.” he said. Siss then slowly walked towards Haydn, who was still restrained by the hornets.

“Siss,” Haydn said, “You’re not actually going to kill me, are you?” Siss then stopped in front of him. For a moment, she just stood there, staring at him.

“Why are you stalling, 221?” Dr. Pederin asked. “Don’t tell me you’re going to make the same mistake as last time! Do your duty and DESTROY HIM!!!”

“I…I’m sorry, Haydn…” Siss quivered as her body began to hiss. As she stared at Haydn, a flashback came back to her.

{Mother: “Please spare us!” *clutches her child tightly*

Siss: *turns around to see Dr. Pederin behind her*

Dr. Pederin: *points at the family* “Kill!”

Siss: *turns back to the family and then blows up*}

Just then, Siss defused herself and fell to her knees, crying.

“Dammit, 221!” Dr. Pederin furiously yelled. “Fine! If you’re not going to eliminate him, I may as well do it myself.” He then approached Haydn. Just before he could jab his toxic needle into Haydn’s body, a combat wrench struck him in his bruised eye. Dr. Pederin fell on his back. “Ow! My bad eye!” he yelled. Brooke caught her combat wrench as it came back to her like a boomerang. Siss then quickly got back onto her feet and summoned all of her minions to attack the infected hornets restraining Haydn. All of the other hornets then flew all over the place. The other Darkrune Defenders and the surviving townspeople rushed over to Haydn and Siss.

“Haydn!” Sombra shouted in relief.

“Sombra!” Haydn shouted back. Sombra then picked him up and gave him a deep kiss.

“Thank God you’re safe!” she said.

“Siss, you’re an experiment?” Envy asked.

“Why didn’t you tell us about this?” Bonnie asked. Dr. Pederin groaned as he laid on the ground.

“Guys, there’s no time to explain! You need to get out of here! I’ll hold them off!” Siss said.

“B….But Siss-” Envy stuttered.

“JUST GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” Siss screamed as her body hissed again. Everyone then fled the scene, leaving Siss behind.
