Legendary bloodsucker. Probably one of the more (in)famous cryptids a strange, bipedal monster allegedly killing goats and other animals and drinking their blood.Related content

I remember seeing one of these critters on someone's art piece in high school. But yours is more detailed.

Great, he looks happy. Does he have like a mosqitoe trunk to suck blood with?

Noice. 'u'
But there's one thing that I've been wondering for a while. If the bipedal, Latino Chupacabra (presumably) came first, why did they give the doglike one the same name? The only thing that they have in common is that they both kill farm animals (which a lot of other cryptids reportedly do) but other than that they couldn't be any more different.

Thanks. I have no idea why but yeah, apparently two quite different creatures bear the same name.

Though the only "true" Chupacabra we have is this one. redraiders.com/sites/default/f… Though they did give an explanation after a DNA test that it's a offspring of a wolf/coyote hybrid. Though(At least to my knowledge) it's still a mystery how those animals got drained of their blood.

Yea, there are apparently two completely different creatures called by the same name. I have no idea about the blood though.

I remember that news about alleged incidents with chupacabras were quite common on TV and newspapers over here back in the 90's. One of the TV shows even informed that a dead chupacabra was found somewhere (around a region where bloodless dead animals were found), but it turned out to be the remains of a dead and dried river ray, mistaken for some alien head... Also, my grandparents lived in a rural zone very far from civilization, and when I went there to visit them I always wondered if one of these motherfuckers would be around. I was about 10 years old.
But here in Brazil the chupacabra is seen more like an alien an not with the canid aspect he has in places like Texas. I think this is due to several alleged UFO and alien sightnings that took place in the country also in the 90's.
I liked your version a lot, btw.

Oh yeah it was only quite recently that I leearned that there are two whole different types of creatures under the same name. So your grandparents lived in the region where the incidents happened?

Reported incidents occurred in many parts of Brazil and the rest of Latin America, including the southern region where I live, but I don't remember any of them taking place in that municipality. Animals were often found dead, but they were clearly killed by dogs or South American foxes (Lycalopex ). Also, vampire bats are quite common there, and incidents involving attacks on horses, goats and cows are not rare.
Well, one night when I was trying to sleep in my grandpa's old house, I heard a very strange sound that came from a swamp, passed very close to the house and went away. I didn't see what it was, but sounded nothing like any kind of animal I knew, and I couldn't hear steps or the flap of wings (as if the thing was floating around) and I guess it moved at, perhaps, 15km/h. Of course it wasn't a chupacabra... but until this day I have no idea of what that could be.

Wow, interesting. What time It was? Perhaps it was some kind of bird? These can make really crazy sounds and from what I know can be really slilent in flight, even big ones (in case of owls for example)

EderNogueira In reply to KingsOfEvilArt [2016-12-31 03:07:55 +0000 UTC]
I doubt it could have been a bird. It was more like a deep voiced frog, with a heartbeat pattern, but it moved too fast and too much to be a frog or toad. It was about midnight, I think.
