Description
The Hunt is everything; It matters not what is the target, what is the purpose, sport, survival, sadism; It is only the Hunt that matters. It doesn't even matter if the prey's life is taken or spared; Wheter a trophy is is claimed or not. It is only the Hunt itselfΒ that matters.-Huntgod Creed

I'd imagine if there was a deity for the story "A Most Dangerous Game"
This would be it.

It's quite a old short story.
Basically a man gets shipwrecked unto a island, he gets help from the baron that rules over it.
The baron treats him nicely and explains his backstory, only to tell the shipwrecked man he'll be hunted for twenty-four hours.
If he survives, he gets to leave the island.

It's quite good (I say having drawn fanart for it). One of the recurring characters is a police officer who is marked by the Hunt, which the Huntgod's Creed reminded me of.
"I mean, killing the deer or elk or whatever else was always beside the point; it was just the idea of setting off into the wild,
surviving out there, cooking and eating what you kill β it all sounded like such an adventure. I mean, Iβd thought about trying it in this country, but shooting pheasants with shotguns and riding down foxes all seemed too much the domain of, uh, nitwits in tweed. So, if I was going to go hunting, I would need to go to another country to do it. Somewhere where they had a few animals worth going after."

Thanks for the quote, although this isn't what this guy is about. He is about the hunt not survival. His hunt is also much more wide term than typically used. In his view a serial killer or obsessive collector are hunters too. Its all about hunt itself not what/who you hunt nor what you do afterwards.

That sounds like a perfect fit to me, to be honest. I think the quote didn't really quite convey the sentiment I intended it to. Individual people who have been marked by the Hunt have their own reasons or rationalisations why it is important to them, which is what the quote is about, but the Hunt itself does not care as long as they continue to Hunt - especially if they hunt things which are themselves Hunters. The police officer, for instances, serves the Hunt in her job catching criminals (and her unofficial job pursuing things that go bump in the night).

Absolutely fantastic in itβs concept and design!
I really like that credo btw... that idea of only the perpetual hunt without a focus on the outcome is really quite intriguing...
Like a belief system I could get behindΒ

Yes, this is based on the general idea that the journey and not destination matters, something I believe myself.
Or as an Ork would put it "Don't know where we're going till we're there" XD

That is a good mindset to have!
I once had that too but I have since converted to the belief in a perpetual hunt

Bah, everyone keeps saying "this looks like such-and-such," but the creature and art style are perfectly unique in themselves. At best it has some resemblance to Wayne Barlowe's especially creepy demon art, but even then it stands out as a very striking, very bizarre christmas tree of hunting tools and the fragility of life. I can see this thing lurking in the shadows of the minds of all wild men, such as Conan's Picts. Hell, this could very well be a child of Jhebbal Sag, if not Jhebbal Sag himself!

Not entirely, for wild men hunt to survive, with a fixed purpose... unlike him.

I simply love this design, I love all the ornaments of the trophies, but for me the head which both resembles dry and weathered branching wood, and a set of antlers, is the most striking - I love how it looks somehow intimidating and rustic and majestic at the same time, great job!
