Description
Those scorpion men depicted in ancient art, rather than in modern fiction, where they are portrayed as humanoid torso on the body of a scorpion, have often many bird-like features. This refers mostly to their body posture, but occasionally even wings. www.matrifocus.com/IMB06/image…upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia…
In my version the "wings" are actually folded scorpion pincers.
The face reminds a naked skull as in their case it's exoskeleton rather than human endoskeleton.

The older depictions do depict them with avian features and I heard somewhere that there were Scorpion Women!

It's been a while since I read the mythology but I do remember something about a couple of Scorpion-folk being mention so I gues you are right.

Yeah, You need to keep a population stable with both sexes in the picture.

Biologically yes, but who said their population was stable? The myths often have creatures that are very unique and only a few of a kind exists.

It seems that the ancient ones depicted these guys as handsome so as not to offend them, while you have gone for a more accurate portrait. Love it!

I guess there are two kinds of people, one that are "awww cute" and other that go "ewww nope". Glad you are on the first side!

I'm just imagining a pincer with a wing membrane stretched out along its edge.

Also, maybe it has one? Just invisible when folded, like the wings of Pacific Rim's Otachi?

Well when you think of it, most membranes don't show up much in their contracted form.

True.. I guess OTachi's were even less visible because of their attachment points being ony on the arms, instead of going troug an entire body, like in case of bat.

I don't imagine these guys flying but a display membrane could work.
