Providence is a quasi-religious Newtype Supremacy organization that first appeared shortly after the Laplace Incident in U.C. 0096. Emerging from the unrest that followed Princess Mineva’s Declaration of the true Universal Century charter, the organization’s symbol of the esoteric Eye of Providence began to appear at various Anti-Federation protests all across the Earth Sphere. It wasn’t until late 0097 that Federation intelligence confirmed the existence of the organization after their in Involvement in the hunt for the Phenex Gundam and when it was discovered said organization was receiving funding from several unknown individuals as well as through back channels via the Buch Concern. Unbeknownst to Federation authorities at the time, Providence was in fact the paramilitary arm of the Ronah Family, stirring up hostile between Spacenoids and the Federation by appealing to a new order wherein an enlightened Aristocracy of Newtypes would lead Humanity into a golden age, the Ronahs had long worked from the shadows using their financial and political connections to build a power base within the Earth Federation over the course of decades. They bought out various figures within the Federation government and military to look the other way towards their activities. In spite of being an Oldtype himself, the Ronah Family Patriarch, Meitzer Ronah, would act as Grandmaster of the organization with his eldest son Hauzeri serving as his right hand and chief member of the inner council while also acting as President of the Buch Concern and lobbying the Federation government. Meitzer’s brother Hauzeri had been appointed to the Federation Senate before the Laplace Incident but its aftermath had managed to secure a seat on the Executive Committee after the mass resignations of the previous sitting. Using the family’s vast influence, by U.C. 0098 Providence has grown to become one of the largest paramilitary forces in the Earth Sphere, drawing in former members of the Federation Forces and Neo Zeon alike with their call for the recognition of Newtypes and toppling of the contemporary political order. Wrapping their movement in the style of cult where Newtypes are held up as semi divine figures and likening their persecution by the Federation to that of the Jews in Babylon and early Christians under ancient Rome. With their rapidly growing numbers, many fear they will follow in the footsteps of the Zeon movement and plunge the Earth Sphere into a new war. In spite of the dream that the opening of Laplace’s Box would encourage reform and understanding between Spacenoids and the people of Earth, it seems to have instead planted the seeds for the next conflict. Little for the Neo Sleeves or Federation know however, more than building an army, Providence constructs a new weapon in secret which they believe will bring all who oppose them to heel.
