I think these two might be overreacting a bit. If our world turned out to be a TV show and I found out that thousands, and maybe even millions of people were into me, I think I'd be pretty cool with it.

Spike, Transformers and Osomatsu-kun were for kids too, and they ignore the fact by allowing Bayformers to be rated PG-13 and having Combiner Wars for grown ups, despite that people complained about both of them.
Also they ignore the fact that Osomatsu-kun was for kids (or better said, a Shonen demographic) when Osomatsu-san was made for an older audience and it had a fanbase, mostly of girls.
Why complain about fans making a PG-13/R My Little Pony incarnation separate from the official canon made for kids and families, and yet you let Transformers, GI Joe, Marvel, DC, Power Rangers, Super Sentai, Kamen RiderΒ and Osomatsu slide with mature audienced incarnations without realizing that they were for kids originally?
