A few weeks ago i had a flash commission that fell through which left me with a bit of free time on my hands. So i decided to try and make a dating sim/visual novel game. Haven't gotten far enough to put out a playable demo yet so i hope these screenshots will do. This is a really slow process, slower than i anticipated really. I've never made a game like this before so any suggestions on what to add would be helpful. But i can't add every suggestion because i don't know how to do much with actionscript and am learning as i go along.Objective of the game is to get Rhea a date. There will be 4 dateable guys:Mouse, Lucky, Ryu and one i'm on the fence about.Suggestions are welcome though. Will be appropriate for all ages although i'll probably throw a bit fanservice in it. Is aimed for girls but guys can play too. Actually, most of the NPCs are busty women lol.

Interface looks pretty nice thus far, but I don't know if it's a good idea to center the text like that. It could be hard adjusting that when you are used to reading books starting from the furthest left. And VNs are visual books so...
Art wise this looks nice, especially the backgrounds. Hopefully you can complete this sometime soon. *___*

And i'm glad you like the backgrounds. Along with drawing each character they are taking a while to complete. If all goes well a demo will be out in less than a month.

I've been trying to make a dating sim too, but I'm a slow learner as far as programming goes.

Thank you very much! I'm a slow in anything technical but one you get the basic codes down it making the game goes alot faster. I hope to release the demo soon. That way I can get some feedback before I finish the entire game. I worry that it's too easy.

coll do u have a tutorial on how to make a dating sim? im trying and nothing came out rite at all XP and i will give you honest feedback when the demo comes out but i think this will be really good ^^

Yup, HP is health points for this game. When you do certain actions like date,play games, or talk it takes away some HP. Dating takes away the most Hp but it also gives you the most experience points in return. But you will be able to get HP by eating or sleeping so you really don't have to worry about it running out.
But it does sound weird to gain 'experience' by going on a date. Definitely can sense the pervyness of that situation lol.

well, if your are planning on doing a dating sim game, one thing most lack is gender options. most you are either a guy or a girl. can't choose. also sexual orientation.

that's true thanks for the suggestion. i think most don't give you that choice because it would make the game twice as big and unless you have a good computer things could be go wrong fast. Flash is a CPU hog and big files tend to make my computer freeze. I will definitely give it some thought though. Maybe instead of 4 guys do 2 guys and 2 girls to choose from. That way you could still choose your gender but also sexual orientation since you can date males and females

yeah, I know flash is a hog. I used to play with it a lot years ago. I've just always wanted some added flavor to to dating sims. gives it more replay value.

True. It's either aimed at males or females not both. But i plan on having at least 3 different endings per character depending on how much exp you earn through the game. Hopefully that will keep people interested
