Description (EDIT: Since Infinity Train actually WAS greenlit and is slated to premiere in 2019--assuming all goes well--I've actually never done this before but this review might need to be retracted since it technically no longer fits the "Unproduced Pilots" rule for Animation Unknown. My thoughts are still valid, yes, but I figure its status will have to be put in limbo, which could mean retconning this review as AU#23)

I've decided to save my Anime Unknown on Fighting Foodons for next week, since finding episodes to watch for the review is extremely difficult (and there are no working videos on WCO). Instead, how about I talk about the Animation Unknown that I've wanted to do for quite a while now? Infinity Train is absolutely fantastic! I should probably just stop the review right here and just say that. Y'know what, I'll just go ahead and jump right into this.

Plot- Seeing as how this is only the pilot, there's not much of a plot beyond this episode to speak of: think some cross between Gravity Falls and Adventure Time. The plot is that a girl named Tulip and a robot named One-One are somehow stuck on the titular "Infinity Train" with no clear destination, knowledge of how or why they're here (though it's apparently been at least a week or two), or what the mysterious glowing number on Tulip's right hand means, and Tulip's only goal is simply to go back home. The idea is that the Infinity Train has a seemingly innumerable amount of cars and each car has it's own special trick or is even a world unto itself. This can potentially mean that literally ANYTHING is possible and the writers can effectively do anything with the premise.
Characters- The characters we get are interesting and well-written, though I expect a full series to elaborate on Tulip further. She's smart, resourceful, and you can really tell just how frustrated she is about her situation and how she doesn't seem to have any answers for anything. In this first episode, we get to see a car that essentially houses an entire kingdom of corgis led by their king Atticus (who's actually pretty hilarious, and gets some of the funnier moments in the episode).
Enjoyment- I absolutely LOVE Infinity Train and would highly recommend it, and I'm even happier that I'm not the only one. Between this and Twelve Forever, it's clear that CN has a ton of really fascinating series that a lot of people really want to see more out of so I don't know why they keep throwing their money at PPG '16 when it's clearly not working and the new Ben 10 reboot which has worn out its welcome 10 episodes ago. If CN picks this series up for a full series (which they most likely will/should with Adventure Time, Gumball, AND Regular Show all coming to their final season or already on it), it would really push them back up to their former glory. Sure, they got Steven Universe (which goes on month-long hiatus every 4-5 episodes), Clarence (which is good and fun but rarely gets the attention it deserves), and We Bare Bears (which is fantastic), but the thing they keep throwing all their time and effort into is Teen Titans Go! and refuse to see that it was dead on arrival and bringing the channel down. Whatever, hopefully when they pick this up for a full series, they'll cut TTG loose like they did with Out of Jimmy's Head, CN Real, The Problem Solverz, and the other shit that lasted way longer than it has any right to. Okay, rant over, let's continue.
Creativity- While this episode just oozes creativity, I'm giving it a 10/10 right out of the gate simply for its potential. You can do so much with this series, plus the underlying mysteries surrounding the weird face monster near the end (I don't really know what else you'd call it, but you know what that thing is if you've seen the pilot) that really drive this one up. I know that I was kinda low-balling the scores but that's what happens when you judge an entire (potential) series on just one episode.
Execution- Only time will tell just how good this series will become but I have my fingers crossed that this one will hit it right out of the park. Fantastic characters, fantastic animation, fascinating writing; a universe where this series isn't IMMEDIATELY picked up for a full season is just a universe that isn't working right. Go on Cartoon Network's YouTube channel, show your support for this show by liking, watching, and sharing the pilot, and DEMAND CN pick this up for a full season. There's already a petition for it and everything, if you'd like to sign it. If we all band together on this, we can make Cartoon Network great again.

Final Score: Plot (5), Characters (5), Enjoyment (7), Creativity (10), Execution (8)= Β + Extra Credit (1 Star for Creativity, 1/2 star for debut series of Owen Dennis, writer/storyboarder for Regular Show)= 42 (Bronze Rank) (I have far too many Bronze Ranks)

Cartoon Network, amazing, talented people are giving you amazing projects and ideas with a lot of potential right in front of your face on a silver platter. Why aren't you accepting this to save your network? The only good shows on the network either don't get the attention they deserve and \or they are ending soon.

I've been seeing a lot of evidence that they're certainly considering this. Honestly, Infinity Train is too awesome to just pass on, CN of all people should understand that (Adventure Time, anyone?)

Yeah I liked the other name but i am glad it's getting a show. This means there's hope for IT getting greenlit considering how popular it is. The network would be a fool to pass it up

WE have seen CN has interest in Infinity Train; they aired the pilot ON TV (at 6 AM) and over 600k people tuned in, proving that their devotion is real and that Infinity Train WILL become a reality. Maybe not tomorrow, maybe not next month, but it's only a matter of time before the demand becomes too great to ignore. Animation is a very time-consuming process so they could already have this in the works and are just waiting for the right moment to announce the official confirmation.

That's true. And I too was one of the people that has seen it. With most of their shows ending soon it Looks like there will be hope for CN after all.

I just pray that this might be the show that can help kick TTG to the curb. Maybe then the the network can finally pull their heads out of their asses for once and take new ideas from other people for a change. As Tulip would say all they need is a push

You're right. This and 12 forever look awesome. Seriously why isn't CN picking this up yet?

Seriously why is the network forcing shows like TT and PPG to be revived(especially when they all ended on a high note) when people are giving CN new ideas right in front of them on a silver platter? It's just really sad how CN isn't constantly shoving TTG down our throats when it's obvious how much backlash it's getting

KingZanderSanchez-i In reply to Taz2300 [2016-12-28 07:47:32 +0000 UTC]

The only way that we can get this series picked up is by showing Cartoon Network that there is an audience for this, by making fanart, cosplay, spamming CN's inbox and mail (they might be able to ignore an email but they have to hand-open every letter that's addressed to them), and also watch and share this:Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=3agjzd…

Got it. So far I managed to sign the petition and shared the word on google+.

If this keeps up this could actually replace some reboots like TTG and get gen canceled.

You know what's really ironic? There actually are CN shows like KND and Courage the Cowardly Dog where the creators ACTUALLY WANT to revive their shows on their own volition and for some reason CN is ignoring them.

KingZanderSanchez-i In reply to Taz2300 [2016-12-28 22:22:18 +0000 UTC]

I've heard that petitions won't do much. E-mailing (or, preferably, mailing them a physical letter that they'd HAVE to open and read instead of just deleting an email) Cartoon Network directly, showing that there is a fanbase for this, and supporting/sharing the pilot (it's probably already broke 1.5 Million views) are the easiest ways to help bring this series to life.

KingZanderSanchez-i In reply to LuckyFredfan [2016-11-22 03:13:53 +0000 UTC]

I hope so too. Cartoon Network is starting to become the new Nickelodeon...though at least THEY realized that bad live-action sitcoms were a completely shitty idea (I've heard Tower Prep was...okay, but by that point the image of live-action on Cartoon Network was so curdled by Dude, What Would Happen?, shitty game shows, and utterly irredeemable shit like Incredible Crew and Level Up, that even if it was FANTASTIC nobody would've watched it anyway). CN has a fantastic series on their hands here, though I'm not sure if they've decided to pick it up or not, but it's not like they have anything ELSE keeping them afloat: just Steven Universe, Clarence, and that's about all that matters; everything else either sucks or is concluding.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LuckyFredfan In reply to KingZanderSanchez-i [2016-11-26 16:18:51 +0000 UTC]

Welp, with some of their hit shows ending which makes the ratings going down a bit and if we CONSIDER that people on cartoon network would finally realize that the ratings for PPG 2016 and TTG won't hold that much for them, I'm sure they will greenlit some new shows eventually, let's just hope the goods overweight the bad ones. (People are already going nuts for this show, CN just needs to care a little more about its fans)
Speaking of new shows, sorry for asking but do you have some free time for reviewing a requested AU in your schedule?

I was thinking maybe you can do either "counterfeit cat" or "atomic puppet" this time. They're both the newest products of teletoon and they're surprisingly decent for this studio's standards IMO (you can tell that by the animation of them alone)

Looks interesting, could be awesome, but the art style throws me off and I'm not super into the concept (even though it's pretty original which is interesting), I'm more excited for the Ben 10 reboot than this series, but I'll give it a shot sooner or later.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

KingZanderSanchez-i In reply to Hertion333 [2016-11-20 22:02:23 +0000 UTC]

Trust me, dude, I've seen the Ben 10 reboot; if you thought Omniverse sucked, THEY WERE HOLDING BACK!!!!! THEY TURNED BEN 10 INTO TEEN TITANS GO!!! That alone is unforgivable for about a million reasons, but somehow the ORIGINAL CREATIVE TEAM seems to have utterly forgotten how to write their own series and the artstyle looks like total shit. They managed to screw up virtually every character in some way (though Gwen is probably the worst), though getting Tara Strong back to voice Ben might actually be a point AGAINST the series.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Hertion333 In reply to KingZanderSanchez-i [2016-11-20 22:22:52 +0000 UTC]

I don't think it's that bad, it may not be incredible, but it has its own charm and I like the new relationship between Ben and Gwen, they still have a rivalry, but it's not as annoying as in the original series, I love all the Ben 10 shows and feel this is okay to be honest, it's not horrible like most people are saying it is and the art style is not too bad even though I loved the anime style it had. Also it's way better than TTG honestly, the jokes actually make me laugh, but Ben 10 was always comidic to be honest.

I guess that's up to your own interpretation. Personally, I can't stand it...especially what they did to Stinkfly's design.

Yeah, the new designs will take in getting use to, but it's growing on me. Greg Cipes is doing pretty good so far with the character, but I understand your opinion about the reboot though.

That's true, but I did say that--regardless of notoriety or exposure--any and all pilots (as long as, at the time of their review, they haven't been picker up for a full series...yet) are eligible for review.Β
