This has been requested about 1-2 months ago! I am so sorry to the person who requested it! T_TI made the base in GraphicsGale but MSpaint works well. I put the tutorial together in GIMP.
If you want to use the base I made in this tut, click Download and the tutorial and base should be in the folder.

I have a question
When you want to indicate shadows on objects, does the shading have to be darker (that is, more black/grey) or does it just have to be a stronger color of the shaded layer?

For pixel, I would suggest a stronger color of the shaded layer. It makes it look cleaner and plainly better

Does this apply when you want to draw over a Pixel base?
I like using bases, but I can't really do pixel art
