I remember being young watching this series and there were team kagome and team kikyo haha!
But, watching this at 22, i think you understand the story and characters a lot more.
I actually feel bad for kikyo, she has the sadest story out of all of them!
I could go on and on in debates when it comes to kikyo and kagome. I love them both but they both have they're own story♥

Although I watched Inuyasha after it was finished, I really enjoyed it..and Kikyo was my favorite^^
I once heard from another Kikyo fan - that there were times when the number of Kagome fans was much greater than that of Kikyo. (nearly 9:1) Luckily the ratio became 1:1 later..
I think that the reason i liked Kikyo involved sympathy.. She lived the saddest life AND was one of the most blamed characters in Inuyasha. Certainly she deserved more than that.
Maybe it was because Inuyasha fans were generally young. I've seen people who admitted that they came to sympathize with Kikyo later.
At least the fact that no character hated Kikyo in the anime comforted me a lot then..^^

Ya, I remember watching when I was younger, and everyone hated Kikyo ._.
And it's like... why?
She died thinking that the one she loved betrayed her, and was resurrected to wonder the earth without him, just to die again.
And the reason they doubted each other so easily is the whole point in the show, sacred jewel, and naraku's intentions.
He knew that the human heart was too sensitive to feelings, and knew how the human heart worked and used it against them.
And, I also believe kikyo knew she would be reincarnated and come find Inuyasha again, which is why she pined him to the tree of ages with a sacred arrow, so that he would be there just as he was when she left him there♥
