I hate to say this, but 8-bit is not a style; it's the power of the console. When speaking of an '8-bit style', it's nice to know which console it's based on.
If you were shooting for NES restrictions, you have too many colors on most of them (NES has a limit of 4, including transparency). Also, some colors don't match the limited NES palette. I don't have too much knowledge on the restrictions of the SEGA MS, but I know that uses pretty saturated colors.
The only thing '8-bit' about them is that they are flat, and that has nothing to with 8-bit, actually. Even NES games use shading, like those big title screen sprites.
What I'm trying to say is that they're in no way '8-bit'.
If you make money on these commissions, by all means continue. If people like it, why not? It's still art, which is what ultimately matters. Just saying to be more aware of proper spriting lingo.

I understand; "pixelated" or "sprites" would be a better description, technically. However, even though it's not 100% accurate, "8-Bit" is very accessible term to those who might want to buy a commission. I hope from a business perspective, you'll understand that in return. No harm in pointing it out, though. ;]

"Retro" would be a more accurate term, really.
