-THE ORIGINAL-
For better or for worse, one of TvTome Adventures' biggest influences at the time was "Inuyasha". I was a big fan of Rumiko Takahashi's demon characters, particularly the moments where Inuyasha himself became a full-fledged demon and lashed out at any living being in sight. Alpha and Zetto's affliction from the virus was my way of emulating the excitement and danger of that transformation...but this time around I wanted to do something a little more in-depth than just that.

-THE NEW-
Using the basic idea of the original concept, I expanded upon it and tried to put some logic to it, as well concocting an interesting "science" behind the idea. Imagine if you will, "fusion" characters; those combined from two people...how would their mind work? Would it be like two consciousnesses controlling a single body, or would it be one NEW consciousness all its own? The virus the players know as "The Forbidden Power" is an artificial intelligence that we see "speaks" to Alpha throughout the series; whispering ideas of committing horrible acts into the boy's ear. Alpha, although a great player, starts out as being weak-willed and easily-manipulated. When combining an artificial intelligence that cares about nothing but violence with a human mind that is weak enough to be preyed upon, what do you get? The answer is, a savage. The "Demon forms" seen in the show are a result of that; mindless, blood-lusting killers, which when FURTHER combined with the virus' mysterious ability of harming other players through the game in real life, makes for a dangerous combination. Additionally, since the virus has been growing stronger being "hosted" in the mind of a human being and feeding off that further negativity, the subsequent appearances of these Demons gets more and more horrifying! Tons of fun to animate for me...but NOT tons of fun for Blake and I to scream our lungs out on!
