These are for people who can walk, but stairs present a problem. My mother has muscular dystrophy and she's unable to take stairs but can still walk. This is for people like her that don't need a wheel-chair yet.

Yes, I wish more people saw that. A friend of mine has problems with her knees, she is able to walk on her own but going up presents a bit of a problem where even a ramp will be hard for her. So escilators are a blessing for many people who have trouble getting around (and no not always due to weight). I'm glad these sort of conviences help your mother as well.Β
