okay, say someone forced to walk with a cane due to extremely painful arthritis wants to climb those six steps. Or someone forced to use crutches because of a broken leg. Suddenly that escalator becomes a Godsend because now they don't have to spend five-ten painful minutes doing something most of us can do in 5 seconds without even thinking about it.
The moral: remember not everyone is capable of unassisted movement before judging something like this as being for lazy people.
