I read a novelization based on him, it was an eye opener. Great dramatic work here. I have to add if fate had anything to do with it he actually took it into his own hands and decided how it was gonna go down.

I was really teasing you on your word choice. Destiny is a better word than fate here. Fate relates back to Norse mythology. Also if you think about it what was going to happen to him? He was to be paraded around blind & helpless before his enemies as a trophy for the rest of his life, but he chose something different & God helped him. This was not accepting his fate it was deciding his destiny.
