~~~Legolas PoV~~~~My eyes shot open, despite the harsh light, and I gasped, taking in as much of the autumn air as I could. My throat was scratched raw from pain-induced screams and the cool air soothed it. The sun gleamed through the shifting leaves that clutched to the stems of the towering trees. Small birds flitted about their business, blissfully unaware of my presence. My head swam in the dazed fog that enclosed it as I stood, leaning heavily against a tall oak tree. My legs weakened with a jerky vertigo that rocked my senses loose from my mind. The ground seemed to roll under my feet, and I felt my body colliding with the leaf-clad ground once more. My body throbbed as a shrill ring nestled into my hearing, slowly intensifying as time ticked by, every minute passing like a cycle of the blinding sun.
But as the seconds slipped away, everything seemed to dull, the ring drifting away on the gentle breeze, and the light fading in my eyes. I could hear the twitting of the birds, and the soft whistle of the wind that brushed delicately against my skin.
My skin...
I looked down quickly, memories of my blackened form flooding back to my mind. But I was relieved to find that I had returned to my natural, pale pigment. I felt along my teeth with my tongue and found that no longer were there sharpened fangs. In the midst of my relieved sighing and confused daze, a new thought shoved its way to the front of my mind...
Where is (y/n)??
This thought jerked me off of the ground and into a desperate and frantic stupor. I stumbled about the clearing, her name being pulled weakly from my lips as I called out for her. Tears burned at my eyes as minutes passed without her presence.
No.....
No she can't be gone, this can't be happening. I can't....I can't lose her.
I...
Before I could finish my thought, the dull beat of a horses hooves reached my hearing. I perked up and reached for the nearest object I could find to use as a weapon.....which to my dismay was a twig...to defend myself if needed. Then two horses, one white dappled with gray, one dark brown with black mane and tail, burst through the underbrush into the clearing.
At the sight of them, and their riders, my lip quivered and silent tears slipped down my face. The rider of the gray horse gasped and quickly dismounted, running to me and throwing her arms around me.
It was (y/n)....my (y/n)...safe..
I felt the thin fabric of my outfit being slowly soaked by her tears, as hers was by mine. I buried my head into the crook of her neck, relishing in her warmth and her...everything.
She pulled away after a minute, pressing her hands to my cheeks and her forehead against my own, laughing through sobs.
“y-you're okay” she sobbed, wrapping her arms around me once more.
“I am, I'm alright” I whispered back, holding her tightly. I heard the distinct sound of dried leaves crunching underfoot, and I looked up, into the piercing eyes of Lord Elrond.
“M-my Lord Elrond” I stuttered out, straightening up but keeping my hold of (y/n). I saw in his wise eyes his stoic first impression but laced with that was worry, and care. His voice held steady as he spoke, barely wavering.
“Are you alright, Legolas? What on earth happened?”
“I am alright, but I do not know what happened, or how”
“describe it” Elrond ordered bluntly,his eybrows furrowing.
I didn't truly know how to describe what had happened, I couldn't remember most of it. But I had to try.
“It was as if I had been swallowed by darkness, my skin faded to black, claws ripped out of my fingers, and fangs out of my teeth...”
I went on describing it, with (y/n) slipping in her own observations every once in a while, and the elven king listened intently and asked his own questions.
“I have never heard of such a power, in all of my long years. But Galadriel may.....i will consult with her the minute we return. Are you well enough to ride, legolas?” Elrond mounted his horse and turned back to me.
“I am” I nodded my head and stood tall.
“Then mount your horse, we will ride to Rivendell”
