This is a newcomer to this little domain and he just had an introduction to Zeus.

I had to laugh when I read your comments about the squirrel! I wonder if this newbie will ever return since it did not seem to appreciate what Zeus did to it! I bet Zeus prefers to be with Charlie and just play games with the squirrels and other animals, right?
The details of the photo are just great! I can imagine the newbie being kind of wary about Zeus, since it places its paw to its chest. Kind of breathless, as you said!

Actually he hunts with Charlie...they make a great pair.Ha, ha. To my knowledge they have never caught anything yet...but they still gang up on the squirrels...only problem is, Zeus can get Charlie to go up the tree, but he can't seem to convince him to jump limb to limb.

Zeus is so lucky to have Charlie at least go up the tree to scare the squirrels away! Who knows, Charlie will eventually master the ability to go from limb to limb with Zeus watching and encouraging!
Zeus and Charlie definitely make great pair to hunt and scare some critters away!

Thank you. I don't know what it is about squirrels and me...but I generally notice them when I see Zeus sitting or lying by a tree. In this case, this newby finally came down the tree, walked past Zeus who remained frozen like a statue, had a meal at the bird feeder and then leaped across to a four inch sapling. When the squirrel landed on the sapling, Zeus hit it with such a force that the squirrel was knocked to the ground. I swear that dog was laughing...no intention of killing it, bouncing them out of the trees seems to be sport for him...his squirrel game.LOL Anyway, this squirrel didn't appreciate him, nor me.
