You know, I've seen bunches of people make these little charts and I've been meaning to make one for a while. With Anthrocon just around the corner, I figured it was time that I did the same so I could spiffy up my table. I added things that weren't previously in my commission list, like the PONY DOLLS and also DIGITAL INKING(if you're wondering why digital lineart is the price that it is...it's because for me, inking things digitally turns out beautifully.....but it is TEDIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!) GAH! But, I can do it. ...ah, but Digital INKING should not be confused with Digital SKETCHING. ...sketching is the same price as a pencil sketch
I've also decided to distinguish between FULL COLOR and FULL CELL COLOR. Cell shading actually takes much more of an effort for me to do than regular shading so I thought it was best to just go ahead and distinguish them.
I also reiterated a few commission notes and added a few to clarify things regarding copyright and editing images. I hope I didn't come off as sounding harsh, but I realize that these are things that I may not have been especially clear about, particularly with copyright. I will NEVER claim ownership of your characters. Period.
Ah, but I think everything else is in there. If you have any questions or comments or suggestions, please feel free to comment here and I'll do my best to see what I can do about it. Thanks a bunch

It would depend on the commission type and the design of the characters.

Beautiful work, but it is by far some of the most expensive i have seen for what you are doing.
(This comes from pricing i have seen for similar work on SF,DA,FA etc.
Either way,i love them! I have been wanting someone to do my fursona for a while, but no one has ever captured her in a soft, girly way,

Too bad you don't take Money Orders, or I'd snatch a badge from you for my upcoming con (and every year after that). Awesome layout, though!

Well, if that's the case then I'll definitely have to grab a badge from you next month. Note me the address to send the Money Order to, and I'll send it out around the beginning of April. =3

Ah, I'm not quite open for commissions just yet. I'll be posting a journal, probably in April, opening up for commissions at that time. Sorry about that, but I've just got a ton of work to finish before the first convention in June. I'll probably take a week off in April just to get some work done. *sighs*

No problem, sorry about bugging ya. =3 I understand that you're busy, I was just wanting a commission from you. When you open up for commissions in April, I'm definitely getting something from you (either a badge if I go to my convention, or a romantic couples print if I don't), but I can be patient until then. ^^

Seems clear enough. Is this also a price change, or did you keep the prices the same? (I don't know your prices by heart)
mmm.... Maybe: (...) in this chart), but I will not use any parts of my artwork containing your original characters for sale without prior consent.
By the way, you have my consent to sell prints of my commissions if you want. ^_~
Also, I'm surprised cell shading takes more time. For me it's really the other way around by a mile! And as for digital inks, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, it really is a lot faster for me when I do it in SAI.

KittMouri In reply to Pete-Bagheera [2012-03-15 19:36:43 +0000 UTC]
For the most part, the prices stayed the same. I just added a few things.
...hmm...that might work. I'll make that edit later. Thanks! And thanks for the permission of use of your commissions. I'll let you know if I ever do.
Well, with cell shading, I'm a bit of a perfectionist. I don't like my lines to be unclear in anyway so it takes quite a while for me to go through it all. Digital inking takes MUCH longer than traditional inking for me, hands down.
As for SAI, I did download it, but I'm really not thrilled with it. Maybe I just need to keep playing with it, but for now, it's not measuring up to Photoshop, at least not yet.

If you think they might sell, it sounds to me like a quick buck, cause you have the image ready on the shelf. The only problem might be that people might think Anne is part of the Sweet Shoppe crew.
For me SAI feels like i don't have to zoom in quite as much. I sometimes work at 100% and you don't get the 'stairs' effect if you draw a almost horizontal or vertical line when the zoom is 50 or 25%. And the lines are more crisp, and they get properly thin at the low end of the pressure scale. But you have a lot more experience inking in PS than me, so perhaps your more used to its quirks, and don't need the rotating canvas as much.

KittMouri In reply to Pete-Bagheera [2012-03-18 12:54:29 +0000 UTC]
Oh, I don't have any intention of selling Anne, honestly. My own characters sell quite well on their own. I was just saying thanks for the offer, but in truth, I have no need to do that.
I don't fancy the idea of selling people's character creations. The only exception I can see are the pony charms. Sometimes, when I have other people's ponies on display waiting for their commissioners to come and pick them up, I get people asking if they're for sale. All of my Sweet Shoppe pony charms sold out and if I just had a little more time, I'd make more of them (like Mint, Tange, Sweetheart, Plum, Boomer, Brandy, Amber & Malki) ...but, right now, I just have the two. But, that's pretty much the only thing I would ever consider selling, but, really, I don't even feel quite comfortable doing that.
Mostly, this is just to let people know that their images may be used for the purposes of advertising...like in this Commission Price Guide. If I had an inkling to use their character, I'd ask permission, first. I just wanted to cover my bases for any foreseeable problematic encounters.
As for SAI, I guess it's just not what I was expecting it would be. I do like the water coloring feature as well as the canvas rotation, but the interface is a little...minimalist for my liking.

Pete-Bagheera In reply to KittMouri [2012-03-19 11:37:00 +0000 UTC]
Ah I understand.
That's why I use SAI mostly only for inking. Don't need that many fancy features for that. I then save it PS format and color in PS. For coloring, I still use PS because many of the features I use for coloring are not in SAI.
I just really like the inking. The PS brush just uses a round stamp that it spaces 25% apart. The SAI system is much more advanced and gives more crisp and smoother lines as a result, with better pressure sensitivity at the low end. For me it's a joy to work with, if only for the inking.
