Description
Final Piece: [link]I took a bunch of photos as I was painting it, for fun. Unfortunately I worked well into the night on this so the pictures start to have flash and get a bit of a flair on them. I'm sorry!
This is just a step by step in case anyone it interested! It's not a tutorial! I just wanted to clarify because I am not really a huge painter, so I'm sure lots of you know much more about painting than me. Of course, I couldn't help but share a few of the techniques I've picked up over the years (I have used acrylic paints on and off for about 7 or 8 years)
Sometimes I just like to see how things get put together. I thought it was interesting because I use some kinda weird mixed media stuff, so yea...

Cool! I've never done any oil painting myself, but it does sound cool! I hear it takes like days to dry so I don't know if I have space to put it while it does...

Mm, for art class I have to do a cultural oil painting. My friend's is STILL drying from a week before.
It's a good thing sometimes, though. Cos if you see something that's botering you, chances are it'll be still wet enough for you to mess around with it

Anyway, I thought it was so interesting how you carried all of it out! I mean, makeup? That was awesome! I thought it was really interesting how it looked from the beginning and how it turned out at the end!

Mmhmm, totally! Some of the pieces you see would take a looot of work and a few things you didn't expect (like the tissues in yours!).

This is a great way to show off how you painted this! I'm glad you did this so we can see how much mixed media it actually IS! What a process, wow! I need to paint. I've been meaning to. . . >_> I just hate spending so much money on paint! JEBUS! It's expensive D:

Yea, Paint is expensive ;_; I would recommend checking out second hand stores or garage sales though! The often have little acrylic bottles.... well, at least I see them like once a month if I go every weekend. They may not be very great quality, but when you're only paying like 4$ for 10 little tubes it's worth it for the practice alone.... and to see if you even LIKE painting!
Luckily, also, paint goes a really long way. I've had these tubes for like... 4 years! Mind you, I don't paint that often but It's gone through at least 6 large pieces (one of them 4 x 3 FEET) and they still feel mostly full, so.... a little bitta paint goes a long way!

Garage sales huh? Hm. Maybe if I check the websites for Michaels I can see when they have sales too. I've painted some before and I really like it. I'm thinking about a mixed media piece though where I paint over a picture and then add other stuff to it. I don't know how to get the picture to the canvas though. I was thinking mayyyyybe lead thinner because it works on newsprint and stuff but I want to take a glossy picture and get it to my canvas and then make it like it's a part of the canvas. Hmm. Haha. I'm so inexperienced!! Thanks for the tips though, I reaaaally appreciate it!!

yea no prob. Michaels has this nifty "40% off" coupon that I use to stock up on supplies one by one haha
Hmm for photo stuff, I always found it was fun to take a picture of something incomplete, like say half a face, then secure it down and "draw" the other half on. It was kind of cool and fun

I used to make this deal with people... that I would draw them (people always wanted to get drawn for some people) and if it turned out I would give it to them, but if it didn't they weren't allowed to see me or bug me about it haha

its ok! Haha I do that all the time It does look pretty watercoloury. I learned watercolour first so its my instincitve to use acrylics a bit more "wet" than others would. This is why I like Acrylic, they are so completely versatile!

Thank you for posting this! I love seeing the process behind an artist's work. Great ideas; I think a lot of people (myself included) forget that it's easy to include non-traditional media in their paintings to create nifty textures and effects

Hahaha. Yea I am notorious for grabbing random stuff. Like bra strap sparkles @_@; that was my most random one, Ithink... beause I had this bra and the little shinnies were falling off, so I saw it in its drawer and was inspired to pull them off (may as well) and glue them on haha!
