Description
This is one of the by-products of being involved in a National Competition with NASA. In this rare opportunity, we got to see the shuttle Discovery first hand while it was being moved back to the assembly building at Cape Canaveral.Related content

Just found your gallery and I just want to do a lazy, 11:00 at night, once and done "YOU'RE AN AMAZING PHOTOGRAPHER!", rather than do it on the dozen or so pics I'm about to fav before I +watch you. I found this one first, so seems appropriate.
TTFN!

I remember having a little toy model of this when I was a kid. I loved the whole concept of the fuel tanks being let off and would simulate the launch all the time.
Great capture. It really brings back memories. I would love to be able to see a real one some day.

and it crushes those rocks to a pulp! I mean really, those big rocks that are on the ground get pulvarized by the shuttle to something resembling beach sand.

I love this photo. Great dry atmosphere and a real feeling of hesitation and anxiety--I can almost feel the heat and the tension right before takeoff. Awesome not only in technical aspects, but emotional as well--I haven't gotten a strong feeling out of a photograph like this in a very long time. Wonderful.

What a rare opportunity to get such a great shot of the space shuttle Discovery at such a close range! Excellent composition and great capture. You mention that there are offices in the Crawler!?!? The walls must be very heavily fortified and very thick so as to offer protection to the people in those offices located below the shuttle. Or mayhap, the offices are just on the farside of the structure away from the portion that the shuttle rests on. Always wanted to see a shuttle launch but I'm not much for waking up early in the morn to get up and see one. Tis always a joy when one hears about a successful launch and landing

Oh my god, could that picture be any clearer? awesome shot, really momentus of mankinds greatest inventions, gigantic utility carts to bring back and forth the likes of shuttles and 5 millions pounds of piping hot burritos. Besides the colors, my favorite element in this picture are how tiny everything else looks.

wow...
simply wow.
I remember a trip to florida where totally by accident we came across a park where they had a Saturn V rocket set up. I don't remember which Apollo mission it was representing, but seeing it was amazing.. just simply stunning to see that massive rocket towering above me.
I imagine this must have been something like that.. only better 'cause it's actually functional XD

Awesome shot. I love the variety of colours (shuttle, ground, sky) and the way it appears to have just grown out of the grass like a puff ball after rain.
Impressive
