Description
I love drawing baby kittens too :3(Yeah, Brook and Stormfur's kits might be a little older than this, but who cares?
Well inside the Tribe of Rushing Water's cave, Brambleclaw was met by a familiar face; Stormfur, a friend of worth and loyalty.
"Am I happy to see you two!?" It was long since Brambleclaw had seen him, but the only changes to the tom was the patches of mud that clung to his pelt. But in the tribe, it was casual.
"As you said," Brambleclaw answered his greeting, and butted his head against the tom's head. Squirrelflight stepped up and nosed him too.
From a smaller cave, Brook emerged, two small balls of fur tumbling around her paws.
"And here I told Moss to stop joking... Squirrelflight, Brambleclaw, long time no see," the slender tabby came up beside her mate.
"Yes. Your kits are growing I see," Squirrelflight nodded to the bundles who were chasing each other around the cave floor.
"They're a pawful, but it's okay. Pine, don't be too rough on your sister," she warned her little son. Brambleclaw saw the motherly glow in the tabby's eyes. Yes, she enjoyed her kits indeed.
"But, what has driven you up here? No trouble I hope?" Stormfur switched themes, and looked worriedly at his friends.
"Oh, no, none at all. We're just on a trip," Squirrelflight assured him, and let her tailtip rest on his shoulder for a moment.
"Really? But on the other side is only twolegplace. That isn't really a place for travelling," a shiver ran down the gray tom's back, and the three clan cats, one who was now tribe, thought back to the journeys made before.
"We'll be fine. It's not like we're keeping track of four full clans this time, or a thoughtless apprentice," Brambleclaw said, and gave a glance towards the ginger she-cat.
"Hey!" Squirrelflight hissed.
Before she could retaliate, the mighty tabby jolted in pain, his amber eyes wide open.
The watching cats studied his expression, and then Squirrelflight broke out chuckling.
As he dragged his striped tail towards him, they saw what was the cause of his shock; the jaws of a kit clamped at the tip.
"Lark, what have I told you about biting?" Brook lectured, and the little she-cat let go, and spat to get rid of the hairs. "I'm sorry. I thought it was a mouse or something."
She looked only sorry, so Brambleclaw shrugged. "It's okay. My tail can handle most things."
Night of No Stars came joining them when eating that evening, and proudly she showed the clan cats her three small kits, born merely a moon earlier. It was fun to see the otherwise so spiteful Sheer turn into a realtime softie when Night asked him to see the kits back into their nest.
Squirrelflight made sure to leave a comment, but the tom seemingly hadn't heard her. His eyes were for the kits only.
"Now that was a sight," Squirrelflight grinned.
Brook snickered with her, and gossip passed between them. Until she asked the dreadful question.
"So, how's it going with your kits?"

Well, I see her as a brown tabby too, just a bit paler and less saturated (mostly for the sake of diversity). Think of it as.... chocolate purple? If that makes any sense. -.-
And even though you need a specific gene trait for the blue eyes (can't remember the name of it), I still like the bluish eyes on her. Heck, if the Erins can forego all the rules of cat coats and eyes, then I can too.

Never heard of it, but yet I like the sound of it, it could result from Stormfur's gray gene that is blend with what genes the Tribe has since a special gene has to result in Brook's gray eyes which are very uncommon in a cat. But the blue eyes are possible because of Silverstream and Feathertail who had blue eyes, also Willowpelt.
I wish the Erins would stop adding minor characters who they won't even list. Like Greenflower whose kits were supposed to be the sign that Silverstream's kits belonged in RiverClan. She was mentioned quite a bit when she was fussing over Silverstream. But nothing for her...
I want to know what Duskfur's kits (Podkit and Curlkit) look like, they have some unusual names. I love cats with unusual names because it's unique. I keep wondering if Curlkit has curled ears or maybe her fur is curly.

True, Stormfur's grey colour could certainly have something to do with it. And Brook's the one with a paler complexity, which could have led to their daughter's paler brown. And yeah, those grey eyes are quite the feat... I have never heard of how a cat can have them, neither have I ever seen one.
The blue eyes theory is quite the interesting one, but it requires the anomaly gene "Ojos Azules" to work. Because unless a cat bears the gene for it, blue eyes is impossible unless the cat's got any white fur, which translates to "no colour" the same way the normal blue eyes are also colourless. And it could work, provided the Erins (or us fans) change the eye colour of a few cats over to blue, because it's a dominant gene and kicks all others out of competition. xP
Of course not. They just wrote in a handful of "would-be" important characters who just trickled down into the sand and disappeared. It's the same with the so-called 'crush' Icecloud was supposed to have for Lionblaze - I for one, saw nothing of it.
True, me too. Their names are so cute (although I begin to wonder whether the authors are running out of names soon).Β
Curlkit's got lots of possibilities, like a curled fur, or ears (they're both recessive genes, so it works!) She could also have a curled tail - my uncle's former cat had a joint defect which made his tail curl up along his back like a husky when he was a kitten. <3

Well we don't know Brook's parents. She could have a mother or father or grandparent who is white with blue eyes and be able to pass it. We don't know much about the Tribe bloodlines so it's pretty big and iffy, but maybe gray is a side effect or something and there's a low chance of it being pasted on.
Well Icecloud was at least listed in the allegiances, but not Greenflower. It wasn't fair that she plays a role but yet isn't deem important when she was according to the book. Was it too hard to just make her a Queen? You know, the ShadowClan cat, Nightwing was actually described in the allegiances when she appeared because of her son's death.
When I think of curled fur I think of the La Perm, but I got to thinking that she might have Elf in her bloodline. Elf Cats are a hairless breed with beautiful ears that curl back slightly though I think they're supposed to be all hairless, but some Sphinx cats are born with fur and this would not be a pure bred one. We don't know about Duskfur's bloodlines so who knows what she and her mate have?
But I decided to make Curlkit a dilute (I'm still thinking about calico or tortie) since that has not been used and I think it would fit her nice.

Or her grey eyes could really be low saturated something, seeing as eye colour intensity is the same as the fur coat. But you're right, there's loads of holes in the tribe ancestry, so there's little chance we'll ever know everything there unless we glue something in ourselves.Β
Then again, was Nightwing ever mentioned more than once? I could barely remember her at all, and Greenflower too. But it shouldn't be necessary to ditch them from the allegiances list (or perhaps they forgot her in the chaos...)Β
Who knows, there's loads of gene defects and sudden 'pop-ups' due to certain parent mixes, that the possibilities all lie there. La Perm is a curious idea, but relies on one of the parents being either purebred or isn't distantly related to one, since all those are difficult to get in the wild.Β
But it would be interesting to see a cat in the clans without fur for once. Rock seemed to survive nice and well without a warm coat.
Should work. Torties can never be too many either way.Β

KalahariMeerkatfan In reply to KittyStorage [2014-05-29 15:16:48 +0000 UTC]
There was two Nightwing I think, this one was a black she-cat who cried out when a ShadowClan apprentice fell off the cliff in...Dawn? Russetfur comforted her (or was it Blackstar?).
We don't know the father, but the coat looks nicer on a domestic cat but weird on a wild one. The curled ears would seem more natural though odd. But Curlkit would carry the gene for curled ears and may have the gene for hairless, maybe one of her and Smokekit's kits could be hairless. Actually a friend of mine had breached that. Her cat, Graycloud is a Peterbald which are elegant hairless cats and she was...mixed received. But I think Rock had fur since he was described with patchy fur he's probably very old or maybe half hairless breed, but then again he lived in the caves which are quite warm.
Well there's torties, but no dilutes which are okay...I like the normal torties though, but some dilutes can be beautiful as well.

Two of them... I've missed something in other words, because that's confusing. But I do remember the poor lad who fell of the cliff, I felt so bad for him.Β
True, the curled ears-idea is much easier to incorporate in stories like these, with little basis on domestic cats. And then the odd hairless kitten can pop up every now and then.
Ah yeah, I think Rock still has a few hopeless spots of fur, but mostly gone for some reason I can't fathom (unless his limbo state slowly rid him of hair I'm stumped) or maybe he was a halfbreed of sorts. Anyway, he's a creep and I refuse to count him for any mre.
Yeah, most of them have really sharp colours, as opposed to the diluted versions. Sorreltail, Spottedleaf and company all are bright tortoises, I don't really understand why. Colours are mostly dampened in the wild, so feral cats and moggies have on average less saturated colourings.
Which would make a dilute lady really stand out in the clans I guess.Β

I think these cats have mixing of several breeds. The first reason...simply ask Yellowfang. Her build with the flat face is very Persian like and the Erins did say she had Persian blood in her line. To me I always thought she was a Persian cat because of her flat face which is common in the breed.
If you look at pictures, I think the Elf's ears are nice examples because they have a gently curving ears, unlike the others whose ears kind of fold flat and not really are pretty. Well living in the tunnels could had resulted in his fur falling out. Sandgorse had patchy fur due to being a tunneler.
Morningflower is a light tortoiseshell, but Tawnypelt is described as a dark one. But there's no dilutes and it's kind of a shame. I think it would be nice to have something different but yet natural as the Erins tend to not know

KittyStorage In reply to KalahariMeerkatfan [2014-05-29 17:07:11 +0000 UTC]
The Persian part was very pronounced in her family, so it feels natural to think of her as a real Persian cat, despite Yellowfang actually being a mix.Β
Yes, the ears are just the right kind of adorable because of the gentle curvation. But is the species related to the American Curl I wonder...
Hmm, I find it difficult to believe tunnel-living can take out your fur so easily, but maybe all the sand and pushing through dense holes tire out their skin and hair sacs, then perhaps.
Hey, what exactly did the Erins know before starting on their series? Their knowledge on cats have certainly proven minimal over time.

KalahariMeerkatfan In reply to KittyStorage [2014-05-29 17:16:12 +0000 UTC]
No, there's a difference. I think the Elf was bred from the Sphinx or Peterbald line. If you look at the American Curl and Fold they have the same form but have a heavy build. Perhaps the Elf merely had a defect that appeared in one litter and was decided good enough for them to keep. The ears are nice, though...the wrinkles kind of aren't.
Maybe all the mud made their fur fall out?

KittyStorage In reply to KalahariMeerkatfan [2014-05-29 17:26:32 +0000 UTC]
Oh yes, when you mention it... Most likely one of those two kinds yep.
Hmm, and I guess your theory on the one defect is plausible too, it's what happens 3 out of 4 times with cat races I guess. Certainly did for the Scottish fold.Β
But yeah, they could have done with an itty bit of fur on their bodies.
Perhaps. Fur needs oxygen, just like hair does, so if you bury it all in mud then maybe.Β
If so, I hope the tribe cats wash themselves regularly, else they'll all freeze come winter-time. xP
