Начала под впечатлением от великолепных крылатых кошек [link] Валяла долго, с перерывами, получилось.... да в общем-то она и задумывалась на «как получится». Думаю, за ближайшие месяцы насмотрюсь на нее, и кошка поедет на еврофурьку
Высота 17 см, акрил, глаза из самозастывающего пластика+акрил, без каркаса, положение крыльев и отчасти хвоста можно несколько менять.
В процессе поняла, что гаммовские иголки — редкостное не то, зато нашла, задавила жабу и купила шикарные английские звездочки.

17 cm high, acrylic, clay eyes. It has no framework, so the position of the wings and tail could be changed a bit.

Они очень тонкие и непрочные, при малейшем отклонении гнутся или ломаются. Пыталась вставлять в держатель для семи иголок - даже в держателе пара штук согнулась. Как - с трудом представляю, они ж там под одним углом расположены (крылья пыталась ими свалять, когда они были еще одной плоскостью).
Работать ими, конечно, можно, и многие только ими делают замечательные фигурки, но мне приходится гораздо сильнее напрягаться. Мне все-таки больше нравится, когда при творчестве можно максимально расслабиться

Oooo, very pretty! And deserving of a DD too! I was curious as to what it was made of since it looks felty, but at the same time looks like it was almost carved out of a big chunk of felt! I have no idea how needle-felting works, but I think it was a nice choice for this critter. He (or she?) looks nice and elegant, but also soft and cuddly - much like actual kitties. And the wings are beautiful!
Reminds me of a small book series called "Catwings" by Ursula K. Le Guin (and yes, the title is exactly what it sounds like - winged kitties).

Needle-felting is when you have wool or acrylic fiber and stick special needles into it, making some shapes. And in the end you really have a big chunk of felt

Sounds kind of like knitting with felt. In any case, it sounds nifty! I take it this kitty doll is not stuffed at all? It's just solid felt? Needle-felting looks like it would eliminate visible seams while still producing a soft, cuddly critter.
And no problem! I read Catwings when I was in grade school, so it's been a while. But I remember liking the books. I might have to try finding them again too.

If it's felted enough and dense, no. Of course, it's possible to soften it and even separate a part you want to replace it, but it's a long and hard work

I love the cute/coy sideways look.
Looks pretty good from all angles except /maaaybe/ the back at the base of the tail. Doesn't seem like the angle the tail would leave the body for a comfortable seating but I can see from other pictures that it is definitely happening in the real world... just looks awkward. Eh, I'll shut up now.

It made of acrylic fiber. But I know people prefer wool because it's more comfortable to work with.
