Still a couple of weeks before we get the 3D release, very looking forward to it XDAnyway, this is my contrabution to the fandom. Particularly special to me as TLK was the film that made want to be an animator.

Lol, I know what you mean. My friend has only one eye so 3D is absolutely useless to him. It was cool, but honestly TLK is just as awesome in 2D or 3D!

Hey, me too! TLK inspired my desire to go into animation. It's my all-time favorite movie. As someone who hates 3D I was skeptical of their attempt to post-render a traditionally animated 2D film into 3D. I was blown away. I loved it!

I saw it in 2D in theaters. I was skeptic about watching it in 3D, so I didn't. Tell me how it looks in 3D! I can only see 3 parts in 3D, Simba's/Kiara's showing, stampede, and when Scar jumps through the fire...

How about the multiple layers of flamingos and maribou storks in the opening number, the way the camera swings around Mufasa as Zazu comes flying in, the steam vents in "Be Prepared" or the elephants in "IJCWTBK?"

Ok, you have a point with IJCWTBK, but the steam doesn't come at you. And only the elephents come towards the screen in the begining.

When Simba and Nala are running between the elephants' feet, the 3D adds an amazing amount of realism to it. And Scar weaving in and out of the steam is very convincing. Remember, the purpose of 3D is not to stick things in your face, but to add depth and pull audiences into the movie. Most animators (like those who did Monsters vs. Aliens) tend to forget this when working with 3D.
I'm normally a critic of 3D. It gives me headaches and filmmakers tend to flaunt it, which is annoying. But I LOVED TLK 3D. If it convinces even the haters, you know it's good.
