Great tutorial for beginners.
I got some simple questions, 1) dont tissues cause the shading to be uneven? 2) Do the final drawing need to be in high contrast to look good? I had a problem on determine the contrast.

KLSADAKO In reply to chongART [2009-04-14 02:58:25 +0000 UTC]

If it becomes uneven use a 2h to add to the areas that are lighter

about using tissues: I find that using tissues is a really good way to blend. For me, if I don't shade with the pencil very evenly, using tissue would cause the blending to turn out uneven. but I still use it bc it makes the blending look very smooth.

haha i use tissue to blend too.
i was surprised how well it worked...

My old art teacher scolded me every time I used something to blend with. She said that I wasn't a true artist if I use anything else besidesa pencil. Wtf? I've always thought that you can use anything you want as long as you get the desired result. I went to that art school when I was in the 4th grade, I went there for two years (but I only attended like 2/3 of all the classes ;; ) and then I quit. Now it's been almost 5 years and I still use a tissue to blend
You are just amazing, I hopeone day I can draw as good as you (or even better ) ^^
Keep up the good work, I enjoy watching your pictures and guessing how you've made them

haha yes those art teachers...
My art teachers never liked my stuff, they kept saying it looked too stiff, they said I should loosen up my drawing arm, I was like WTF..
hey u have great talent, keep going and u would reach ur goals

ianwilgaus In reply to ??? [2009-04-13 10:23:22 +0000 UTC]

Did you use photoshop to darken these images to look more like the actual drawing. Because everytime I take a picture of mine they come out a little washed out looking even though they have those dark parts?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KLSADAKO In reply to ianwilgaus [2009-04-13 11:58:24 +0000 UTC]

yes thats what I have to do, otherwise it will look crap ^^

Go to photoshop and use the Levels tool

Is that Vellum or Smooth?
I think it's Smooth.
Anyway, you're so quick to start a new drawing...as if you have a deadline to catch.
Keep it up.

That's still impressive. I'm guessing it's not a coincidence that this happens to be spring break week in many US schools?
