"Despite being a strong girl, there are things Aria fears.

Every once in a while, as she slept, those fears would visit her in the night. Sometimes it was only one of them, but tonight all of them crept into her head.

She found herself in a cage, hoisted off the ground, its metal bars too sturdy to break open, try as she may. For a moment she tried to remain calm, but then she heard it.

The flapping of feathered wings. The soft clicks of talons upon metal. The chattering of sharp beaks ready to peck at her.

Birds. Avian fowl. Her skin crawled at the mere thought of them.

Still, she tried her best to remain calm, even as sweat poured down her face and her eyes widened in fear, a panicked smile creeping onto her face as if she were ready to laugh in a vain attempt to hide her fear.

Then the cage rattled violently, and she finally looked. Staring back at her were two pairs of blood red eyes, framed by two green plumed heads ending in sharpened beaks like rapiers. It's wings formed a curtain around the entire cage, draping her in an ever blackening darkness, before a twisted, mocking voice finally spoke to her.

"Hey there, kiddo... HOW'S THE FOLKS?"

Aria awoke with a scream, finding herself, wet from sweat and tears in her eyes, in her bed...

It was all a dream. A nightmare... but one she will continue to have until the monster that killed her family was dead." - written by Xeranad
