Description Based on Black Canary's cameo appearance in the final minutes of JLU episode Initiation. This is also my first attempt of having more of a single body in the frame. It is still a trace paint like the others if only to get the proportions accurate.

Also tried to apply the two tone coloring to Black Canary's legs and I believe it works. I'll admit I went more towards black than gray on with her tights.

I'm aware that the animators chose to draw her wearing tights just as they had done with Zatanna. I would suppose it is more difficult to consistently draw fishnets in various positions than these women find themselves in.

Especially Canary in her sparring match with Arrow in JLU The Cat and the Canary.

Distracting isn't the only word I would use to describe the effect that certain heroines have when it comes to their costumes. For me its always been either the eyes or the legs that I notice.

Justice League Unlimited introduced me to plenty of DC characters I had never seen before including Black Canary and Huntress.

As to why I hadn't seen them before then, I barely read comics as it is so most of my DC knowledge comes from DCAU shows. I knew of many characters prior to Justice League and JLU.

My memory being what it is I wasn't totally unfamiliar with all the faces and looks, but again not much for reading comics at least until the last few years.

Enjoy...

Definitely find the scene from the episode to be memorable with how she puts on her boots.

I always loved the way they did the animated version of Dinah. She came out SOOOO pretty!

I really love the way this came out. it's very dead on!

I are be out of practice for BT style anymore.. after I kinda figured my own style... I tried branching out...

This came out lovely! well done!

Always got to start somewhere and BT certainly sets the bar.

Need only to look to this as visual evidence of this.

Mostly I enjoyed coloring this one more than some of the others. I was doing this one around the same time I was doing the one for Helena.

As to the colors I was looking to make them resemble other versions of her costume that I have seen.

I was going to try to the tights for fishnets not that ambitious yet. So I went for two shades of black for the tights and two of blue for her jacket and her boots.

Same two-tone principle applies to her skin and her hair. Hair and skin colors always seem trickier than the rest.

So most of all I am glad you rate the final image high.

I think you did a nifty job coloring this one.

once of the nicer things with BT style stuff is that the shadow/base/highlights are pretty basic and makes for anyone who is trying to learn the ways of drawing and comic coloring to have a pretty good understanding of what is going on.

Well that's Bruce Timm for you. Plus he draws and colors a lot of characters.

Especially the female ones which I'd say tend to have quite a realism to them.

Of course his take for colors are quite lovely too.

Thanks. I do my best to color it that way.

I used two shades of the same color to create the shadow effect.

One shade is usually darker to make the contrast for the shadow.

Its based on a screen shot so that's part of why it looks that way.
