Because I think Heylin Rai is cool.
This is a doodle that got out of control. *sarcastic* It's not like I have other things to do... definitely not!*end sarcasm* But I did thoroughly enjoy doing this. It started out as a sketch I did on SAI, then I decided to add some sloppy shading. After that, I decided it would look cool if I added some tones. I proceeded to color his eyes with the intention of leaving them the only thing colored(to make them stand out and whatnot). In an effort to make it look less awkward, I made the lineart better. But then I decided the background looked lame, so I added in green fire. After that, I noticed his gray skin looked really weird, so I colored it and that little bit of hair. Then I realized he didn't look like he was part of the background, so I added some green lighting. :T And that is how this picture progressed.
...Fire is hard.

Looking back at this, I would have wanted to see Rai on the Haylin side a little bit longer

Yeah. It would have been cool to see more Heylin Rail. Maybe even made his redemption a little sweeter. But overall, I think the show handled it well.

I am making a comic and one of my characters wears a hood. Problem is a am an armature at best when it comes to drawing. I do better when I have a picture to reference.

Reference pictures are massively helpful. Remember that references are in no way cheating. Even pros use references.

That was very cool. It shows how he really turned on his friends to get what he felt he deserved. I don't blame him for leaving, his friends weren't acting very nicely toward him because he didn't get promoted too.
