I actually put a lot of effort into this. At first, I was convinced I'd do terribly, and kept messing with the cape no matter how unhappy I was with it. Then, I looked at it later, after all my messing up, and realized it didn't look bad. It's probably some of the best shading I've ever done! And it was a complete accident
With that confidence boost, I did the rest.
And I like it. Background may come later. Though I'm scared I'll screw it up.So what do you think?

Yeah. I tried watching the whole thing, but I couldn't find all the episodes and sorta lost interest before I could watch them all. I did see the movie though. I was upset the series didn't have more Meta Knight being awesome.

This is really nice! I love LOVE the cape. You did a fantastic jod on the mask as well. Espically the ridge in the middle of it.
The (don't know the real name of it) collar that's above his cape is shaded backwards. With how everything else is shaded the darke side should be the closer side to the viewer, not the other way around.

Somewhere around there. Though I never actually decided as I did it. XD Just kinda... went at it and tried to shade in the same direction.
How well the cape turned out was a complete accident. XD But I love that accident.
The collar thing... that mistake was probably a result of me winging it with the shading.

Hair can be difficult, depending on how you're doing it. I usually go for a simpler approach, but I should really challenge myself more. Don't have to worry about hair on MK or Kirby. XD

That style of hair looks good. I can't really make things look even semi realistic, you're definitely better at that then me. And anime hair is pretty easy, depending on the style.
Seems like a lot of things in art depends on style.

I think that's the truth of it. TO make hair look like how I do it all you need is a Ticongeroga pencil and a little paitence and you literally just layer on the shades.
It's really simple, but takes a ling time.
And really I'd tend to disagree.

I don't think I have ticongeroga pencil. I have some sketching pencils of various shades though. I just work with what I have.
When I say easy, I mean to a certain extent. Of course it's difficult, making it look like hair and all, but some artists put more detail than others, which varies the difficulty a bit. Still takes a lot of practice, no matter what way you look at it.

Those are basic pencils. I get them at wal-mart. I've never used scetch pencils

Sketching pencils.. simple stuff like 4h, 2h, h, b, 2b, 4b, etc. I tend to use the 4h alot when starting a picture.

Confused? H refers to hardness, which means the lead is lighter. While B means Bold, which is the darker type. If you didn't already know that. I think a number 2 pencil is an HB...

And really I don't need them to make my art look the way it does. I bet it would look better at times, but.... I dunno.

I didn't really use them until recently, and even then, I don't do much with them. I use my 4h pencils for sketching, then darken the lines with a normal pencil if I like it. And if I want to do more with it, I scan it and color it digitally. So I have a bunch of pencils I don't really use.
