Description
My fifth and final entry into the Helpful Bear Productions' Creature Design Contest. This kaiju was designated 'Abyss' as all it seemed to want to do was lay waste to all of humanity and everything it had created. It descended from the sky one day and instantly began it's campaign of destruction, obliterating all it lay eyes on with waves of fire so hot they melted steel and concrete, evaporated all water sources and incinerated all life in their path. Many believed that the rapture was upon us, that because of its appearance, the Abyss was an Archangel, walking the earth to cleanse the sinners and the unworthy. These poor fools, walked out of their homes and stood on hills and rooftops, held hands with their families and awaited judgement from a false god. Of course, we tried to fight it. We failed. The beast did not just shrug off bullets and missiles; they were reduced to ash before they even touched its flesh. With a wave of the behemoth's hand, broiling tsunamis liquified tanks and jets and infantry. Our weapons were useless. When the rampaging monster had desolated a city, it took to the sky to find more, spreading its awful wings and sporting the bizarre horns on the back of its head, it looked for all the world like a vulgar parody of the angel that it was often mistaken for. It only took a matter of days to bring humanity to its knees. Shortly after that, the last city fell. A broken shadow of a man collapsed to his knees at the edge of a smouldering crater that was once the city where he and his family had lived. Amid the smoke, the titan strode towards him. He did not try to stand or run away. He did not cry out or weep or scream foul curses at the approaching abomination. He knew that he was without hope, as much as he knew that this was humanity's end. The eternally blazing eyes looked down upon the kneeling speck and deemed him unworthy.
