Description Another quick animation I did this evening instead of getting a head start on my art history notes.

Just like the last one, it's not an amazing display of good animation, but it was a fun experiment. Made in Easytoon.

Arr, thanks matey. I'm glad I found this program - it lets me do really quick stuff when I get the urge to animate.

They have Legolas's unending quiver!
Okay, I'll stop now.
I should try that thang again.
Oh, but this is very cool! ... did one of those arrows bounce off of him?

Kobb In reply to ToastyGlow [2006-09-28 00:16:12 +0000 UTC]

No, the arrows all miss, but the last one is his closest call. Heh heh... neverending quiver. I guess that means Splinter keeps bouncing off something and coming back... only to turn around over and over? Hmm... maybe he's going senile and keeps going back for something he forgot.

ToastyGlow In reply to Kobb [2006-09-28 23:41:01 +0000 UTC]

No, it LOTR (You haven't seen it?), Legolas the elf has this quiver that never runs out of arrows.
*snerk* Maybe the archers stole something from him?

Kobb In reply to ToastyGlow [2006-09-29 07:54:19 +0000 UTC]

Dude, I READ LotR before the movies even came out... and then I saw those. I know what's going on ...I was just being amused because I've referred to Legolas' quiver in almost the exact same words.

...How did you get the impression I didn't know what you were talking about?

The only thing I can spot is that the archers must be really close to where he stands. The airs are mostly staying parallel to the ground, indicating that they're firing from close range. From afar they would need to arc or they'd simply fall to the ground or hit too low. Otherwise, a very good sketch. (:

Kobb In reply to Lizardman76 [2006-09-28 00:13:39 +0000 UTC]

That's true. I imagine Splinter has his awesome ninja observation powers and can tell which archer is going to fire next so he can start the dodge. The thing is, he throws his shuriken at an upward angle... which would hit none of them at all.

Heh. Strangely, the way you draw the arrows "appears" normal for animation, but it would be insane for a real life situation. (: Animation has that affect, that certain things must be wrong to look right. (:

True... it's part of why rotoscoped animation looks so weird.

Very nice done. The motion is as the others said nice and smooth. One thing you seem to be able to do continually well is the motion of the head, leading the body, turning just before the body does and the way the whole form crunches up before springing off. Also another thing I notice is that after the roll, once he's on his feet, he doesn't automatically stop where he is, he keeps on sliding for a bit which I think is great because if he stopped dead and turned around it would look quite silly, hehe. So you really have a very good grasp of motion... especially with animation those arms as well

Thank you much! I still don't like the shiruken chuck he does (mainly because you hardly notice it - that's bad silouhetting on my part) but the slide was fun to do. Go Splinter go!

Pretty impressive stuff -- on both counts.
On Splinter's dodging of those arrows!
On the smoothness of this animation!
