I wrote it in 3 days each night working from around 10PM-12AM...no fun /

It is reccomended you open the image in your web browser, as the file is huge and doesn't like being displayed by microsoft's image viewer, dunno why....probably as I said too big!

Just have fun with it

Hey, i just did this tutorial and made the keyblade! Your tutorial is so awesome, it's one of the best i have ever done and i have learned so much 3ds max from it- more then what i've learnt from Uni! This was my second attempt and at modelling in max and you made it so easy for me. I'll post you my render pic later, if you want to see. I might do another keyblade next. Thank you again!

hey there, i'm glad my tutorial was of any use to you , I am actually considering writing some more tutorials in the near future, ie when I find wome time . However I would love to see your end result and I am glad I can be of any help.
Thanks ^__^

I would love to see more of your tutorials! I am currently working through your other ones. I have posted up the render on my dA page, so you can have a look to see if i did alright!

I'm currently writing a really (and I mean really) long tutorial on how to model (and possibly texture) a full spaceship model, but before that i'm going to write a basic tutorial on creating an ipod and then using whats called a UVMap to texture it (the tutorial is going to be focused more on texturing, as I feel writing tutorials helps me get better at things i'm weak at). Your end result from my tutorial is superb

CaronCC In reply to Koichi-han [2007-10-02 00:45:36 +0000 UTC]

Cool. I've done UV mapping in Maya, but not in max before. Things like showing what to press with the buttons is helpful for me because i may know how to use them in Maya, but max sometimes is different.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Koichi-han In reply to CaronCC [2007-10-02 08:47:55 +0000 UTC]

Yeah UVMapping is a pain in the backside , I might have it done in the next couple of days, I haven't had much time lately...lots of coursework.

I also have never used Maya, I can imagine it would be reasonably confusing if I even began to attempt to use it ^__^.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CaronCC In reply to Koichi-han [2007-10-03 01:20:42 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Maya seems to be more complex in terms of controls and seeking out what you are looking for, unlike Max, where most of the stuff is in the stack on the right side. I have to learn Maya because lots of games companies use it and i'm on a games course.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Koichi-han In reply to CaronCC [2007-10-04 21:22:01 +0000 UTC]

Ah yeah, I wanty to get into games also, so I will most likely have to learn maya eventually, but for now I shall stick with MAX, but I think I only find it so easy because I have learnbt in MAX, I guess if I learnt in Maya I may struggle a little.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CaronCC In reply to Koichi-han [2007-10-06 00:21:30 +0000 UTC]

Well when you start learning Maya, the controls might confuse you because you may be used to using Max so much. Modelling wise, you should be fine if you know the principles of it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Koichi-han In reply to CaronCC [2007-10-10 21:26:35 +0000 UTC]

Eeek, I don't like learning new controls ...actually I really SHOULD do some coursework today...ah well, just wondering but what is Maya like for animation?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CaronCC In reply to Koichi-han [2007-10-11 12:56:40 +0000 UTC]

Sorry, i wouldn't know. I haven't tried it out yet, i'm just focusing on the 3d modelling and texturing part first. Plus the Uni hasn't taught us it yet!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Koichi-han In reply to CaronCC [2007-10-11 13:08:59 +0000 UTC]

Ah well ^__^, i'll look into it all , should be fun, what course are you doing?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CaronCC In reply to Koichi-han [2007-10-12 14:22:07 +0000 UTC]

I'm doing BA(Hons) Computer Games modelling and animation at Uni, which has been fun so far!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Koichi-han In reply to CaronCC [2007-10-15 09:51:28 +0000 UTC]

I can imagine, is the course difficult?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CaronCC In reply to Koichi-han [2007-10-15 23:05:56 +0000 UTC]

Well, for me it's learning the 3d software and good modelling techniques, like low poly and clean geometry, which i've found challenging, but gradually got used over the past year.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Koichi-han In reply to CaronCC [2007-10-18 13:06:26 +0000 UTC]

I see, low poly modelling is actually quite fun , I tend to do alot of modelling for HL2 and I enjoy it ^__^.

this looks like it will be fun. My brother will love it, i know. He is a Human walkthrough. He could tell you where to get all the dalmations. ON THE PHONE! And dont worry about your grammar. cant be worse then most people mistaking numbers for whole words. Thank you for the submition. I doubt this will be a download i will ever regret.
