Description
16X20, acrylic on canvas. Several years old (three, I think).A recreation of a painting I did in 1990. There are subtle differences, of course. Recreated because the original is unfortunately lost...
Thanks for looking

Lost? o_o
A pitty.
I like it. Specially because of the indifferent faces.

Is the color difference due to the photography? I always have to look at your paintings for a while to start getting at most just a small piece of the puzzle. Just love the multicolored nail. I keep getting drawn to it.

Well, the deep yellow came out more orange than yellow. I'm always having difficulties like this

It was certainly worth doing over again..and the fact that you changed a few things makes it all the more intriguing. Mark

Thanks brother . I hate to tread the same ground, but sometimes you just have an overwhelming desire to resurrect the dead

So... this has something to do with the battle between christianity and gay pride? And how the strain of it is causing damage to both sides?
I just stared at this thing for like 5 mins going "wtf?". Very well painted, and an excellent concept!

Thank you, but I can't honestly say that gay pride had anything to do with it (any more than gay pride was the concept behind Skittles candy )

oh.. well i guess I was way off in my interpretation. It wasn't just the rainbow colors that made me think it was a gay pride piece. The two girls on the right look like a couple. They could just be friends, but my initial impression was that they were lovers.
I'd be interested to know what your thoughts were when you came up with this painting.

Honestly, I try to have no thoughts at all when I'n painting. The resulting imagery seems more pure the less that any thought process is involved. Music is the catalyst that rattles the shelves of my junk shop brain. Who knows what will fall off of the shelf? Maybe the shelf will fall off

Wow, that's cool! It's amazing what your subconcious mind can come up with when you let it run free.
I appologize for overanalyzing. My friends get mad at me all the time for reading too much into books and movies, rather than just enjoying them at face value.

It's good - but I'm so used to looking at the original [link] , the subtle differences will take a bit of getting used to.
