Wow, thank you so much for this! I only recently bought SAI about a week ago and have been trying to get used to digital drawing. This is such a great help, thank you so much for putting something like this out for us beginners to use!

It takes a LOT of getting used to. I remember when I first got my tablet, I almost gave up cuz I didn't know what I was doing. It took a good 3-6 months using it before I finally got the hang of it...and another 12 years before I got Sai and felt comfortable enough drawing directly onto the computer. Up until then, I still drew things on paper and scanned them. Now, I draw straight into Sai and it's a lot faster and cleaner.

Wow, that's a lot of dedication. I really do aspire to someday get to the point where I can draw the image that's in my head accurately. I really do admire your work, you are an inspiration to many of us here on DA and beyond.

this is awesome!! you actually can adjust the hardness/softness factor of the pen and airbrush on sai though, there's little buttons for it next to the blending modes! ovo

Oh is that what those buttons do? I've always left them alone cuz I normally just ink stuff in Sai. Thanks~

The transparent color option is one of my favorite things about Sai, actually. This allows you to erase using whatever brush you have selected. So if I am using a brush that is textured and I make a mistake, instead of selecting the eraser tool I use transparent color so that the texture is preserved.
Still, nice detailed tutorial.
